Had to recalculate points last night as some bench warmers got included in the mix. Also dropped about 20 teams from the points as they signed up over the weekend after kickoff in the first game. There were 2 teams with only 9 players selected. 1 team with 1 only player in it

Obivously I'm quite happy with the scores. Just wanted to make sure mine wasn't incorrect and if they were was it going to push me down the table.

Perhaps some people are confused with the points system?
Midfielders and attackers get points for assists and goals, no appearance point. The reason for this is that it encourages people to think about their line ups and select attacking players who will play (as they can't score if they don't), and players who are likely to create goals, rather than a defensive midfielder who will more than likely sit back and hold the ball. This is why players like Costanzo is cheaper, becuase he plays very defensive and is unlikely to score many points.
Defenders, Fullbacks and Goalkeepers can also score points through assists and goals, but also get rewarded thru their good defensive work. If a defender does not play, it's simple, he gets no points and loses none. If a defender plays at least 45 mins but then gets taken off (like alessandro) he gets an appearance point (1), if he plays at least 75 minutes and keeps a clean sheet whilst he's on the field, he gets a total of 3 points. For every goal conceeded by a player in 1 of these positions he gets -1, so Vidmar for example played over 45 mins but conceeded 1 = 0 points.
Why are defenders treated like this?
To make people select defenders who will play and gain their team points based on their overall performance. You could select 2 NZ players in defence who wont play and hence more than likely not lose you any points or score any to leave room in attack for a better player, but if they do play, based on last years performance, could lose you points. Defenders like Ruden and Valkanis are expensive because a) they play for good teams so clean sheets are likely, and b) they are known to get forward and score the odd goal.
To be perfectly honest this scoring system has been taken off an EPL fantasy game which I have played for years and I believe it works very well.
Any questions please fire away!

Sorry Lou, I had everyone included at first as I'm such a nice guy but then saw most of the late entries were up the top, and realised I'm really not that nice anyway so pulled those teams.

Hey everyone, Before the fantasy league transfer window open again I thought that i better let you all know of a slight change we are making. We previously communicated that only 2 transfers were available in a calender month per team, however we have decided to double this to 4 a month! This is for 2 reasons, (a) confusion over the scoring format, and (b) to cover any long term injuries. It's important to remember thou that any transfers must be made prior to the first game of the weekend, usually this will be the Friday but when the Thursday games start again it will be Thursdays. Cheers!
