Hey guys, I guess this is the right board to post in...so post I shall!!
A few of my mates and I are going to drive up to the Mighty Home of the Mariners© for the new years game. We will be on the coast by thursday afternoon before the match( the 28th if im not wrong) And will be driving back down on the following tuesday.
My question to you, the central coast public, do you know any cheap places that me and my University (note - that means we are fairly impoverished) friends can stay? Just a few suggestions/phone numbers that we could eye out.
You will see our mighty MarinerVan when we get there. Yes folks, thats right, a whole van devoted to the mariners!!!
Thanks for your help guys!!
Regards, Greenlig

Greenlig - there's a Formulae 1 near the stadium, behind the McDonalds, so fairly cheap, ontop of which its a club sponsor.

like omni said, formule 1 hotel gosford would be a goer i reckon - rooms at $59 per night, so it'd just about be the cheapest part of the trip! look forward to meeting you folks!

This is a rather random question...but in a ballpark figure, does anyone know how much it costs to drive from melbourne to sydney? Like just a rough petrol costing. I'm doing a budget, and really have no idea how much it will cost us to make the trek.
Any help?
Regards, Zac

At a guess $100 or slightly over depending on your car.Work out the k's and what your tank will give you

(Not trying to sound smart) kinda depends what you're driving Zac Generally expect about $100 each way. Formule 1 mentioned above, prob 10 mins walk to Bluetongue (designated parking for stadium on that side is about halfway from the Formule) Looking forward to welcoming you to our region and YOUR home stadium! P.S. Closer to the time, get us to tell you about getting (online) a casual pass for the M7 and M2 motorways (e-toll only) for quickest and most painless way to get to us through Sydney.

Thanks guys. Its a 4 cylinder Nissan Nomad, but I really only need a general idea. I couldn't find any distances(that said, I didnt look to hard lol) so an approximation is all I really need. The van isn't really a guzzler so we should be alright. I'm thinking $200 either way. Money isn't an issue, so we can expand our budget dynamically©(there, I've copyrighted dynamic budgets©).
You guys are legends, thanks for all the help!!

There is also a motel a few 100m before the Formule 1 (no idea what the name is though). Some of the Bling boys stayed there and I think it was pretty cheap??
As it is over NY, you might want to make a booking pretty quick though.
I am sure we can stand you guys a few beers before the game to stretch the old budget too.

Lol, I will DEFINITELY be patronising a public house. Greenpole my friend, you shall have a free beer!
Oh, this is a serious question...do they sell Boags Draught anywhere around there? Or will I haveto transport a case of it up there?

Yeah we get boags up here. St George is awesome.
Me and Serious here have taken a few road trips to melbourne and back, and i think it averaged out at filling the tank 5 times there and back. Something similiar anyway. Oh and if you drive through Yass, try and find the McDonalds sign that simply reads:
MYass
Im not joking.

The Motel mentioned above that is west of the F1 is the Ashwood. We stayed there for cricket last year, not too bad a place, pool was great, breakfast likewise.

The plus of the Formulae 1 is that it's a sponsor of the club, so I'd go with that.

Just thought it was worth mentioning that the Gosford Races will be on on the 31/12/06 if you are looking for anything to do during the day before the game at 6pm.
Formulae 1 is right next door to the track no driving needed. and only about an 8min walk to the stadium.

Hey guys, Sorry to resurrect the dead, but hey, its that time of year again!!
I have booked my boat tickets, got the van ready(almost), booked the hotel tickets, got the time off work, and convinced the girlfriend that I not being in the state when she returns from a 4 month working holiday is a good thing!!
Me and my mate will be up there from Thursday the 28th( i think depends on our driving) till tuesday the 2nd, so it should be a fun action packed weekend!! If any of you guys want to get together for a pint or a 'schooner' or whatever they are called, give us a hoy! We'd be more than glad to quaff some nectar.
Someone mentioned toll booth pass thingummys...In tassie we dont have sealed roads, let alone toll whatevertheyare's, so the whole concept is strange and foreign to me. Any help on that would be muchos appreciated (expressed in beers too).
Look forward to seeing you all.

It is cashless so you have to organise your payment beforehand through their website. Go to the link through here: www.rta.nsw.gov.au/usingroads/etoll/index.html?hlid=18
