.what a bunch of wankers .i saw a quote from aussie sporting/cult hero boony that he thinks that one thing to keep people away from the a-league is violence or hooliganism (based on his english experience) .this is obviously the sort of crap that gets all the publicity and it will keep families away

ive seen that kid before. he went to my primary school and has a hot mum.
however, ive never seen him attending the bay.
like perm said, hes just seen the movie and wants to be cool like the GSE. hes about half of my size and about 15 or 16 or something. if he tried, even the scum would rip him to shreds.
by the way... 19 myspace friends.

the C.S.E is not a gang or cult, not even a group that looks for trouble and fights. we are mearly a bunch of guys who hav made this group up to have a bit of fun at the mariner games and to hav a sence or belonging in the mariners community. Well if this is so, why would you give your little group a similar name to that of the hooli's in the movie Green Street ? Respectable companies think long and hard when choosing the "name" of each and everyone of their new products when putting it onto the world stage/market. This is based solely on both the positive and negative aspects of that silly little game that used to be played on the "Other Board" of this forum, we all knew it as: "The Word Association Game"

I don't think there's much to worry about after looking at myspace, they're not exactly hard looking are they? It just looks like he enjoyed the film too much.

While on the topic of names, my girlfriend had a good point last night.
Marinators? What the?
Hear me out. I know why we are called the Marinators, I know the association with the Mariners is just too blindingly obvious to miss, I know and love the name like a child. But to any outsider with no prior knowledge whatsover, we are a baste. Kinda odd if you get drunk and think about it for too long...

I think it appropriate that we be thought of as kind of odd. Think about Westhams song and tell me that does not strike you as odd.

As I wrote, eons ago, when we first voted 93% for the name, as an interim name for the CWC in May 2005: "The name plays on three levels - Mariners, plus Terminators, and Marinated! However we may get sick of the joke, or not." Obviously we didn't. In fact it was Lawrie, the club, and the media who 'picked it up and ran with it'!

Im just throwing ideas around for the sake of it but what about naming the area we stand in instead of calling it BAY 16 as we grow the area we stand in will grow. How about still being the marinators but stand in The Dock, The Marina, The Bay..etc something like that

The Kitchen? You know....marinating........ In all honesty, when I heard that it was The Marinators, my immediate thought was the kitchen...marinating...cooking and I was like WTF?? I kinda figured it out, that it had to be related to the Mariners somehow aside from having part of the word in it, but I couldn't make the connection...I just took it as it was.

There's nothing wrong with our name - it's been embraced by the coaching staff, the players, the media, and 98% of us....... that's more than good enough for me.
And honestly, the connection is not at all hard to make.

in marketing terms the name has good branding, fun and relaxed, and easily connected to the mariners
a bit daggy but who cares as we don't take ourselves as seriously as other supporter groups
