Hey everyone,
As we all know, Bay 16 has been very crowded (especially at the back) in recent games against Sydney and Perth. I have been asked to pass on a message so please everyone take note!
Security will be policing 2 things from now on.
1. No standing in the entrance to the bay 2. 1 person per seat
To be honest I don't have a problem with this, you need to get yourselves there early to grab a spot. We have discussed this in the past anyway regarding spreading out and now we're gonna have to. There are safety issues etc surrounding over crowding and blocking the isles so to it's a fair call IMO.
As a supporters group we would look so much better if we spread out, I thinks it's a decent idea for a few of the bigger voices to move across to bay 15 (if they are willing), and that the megaphone users down the front of the bay try to interact with more people in 15?
It will be busy this weekend so we can only give it a go?

Last home game I went to..semis last season it was very very oversold and if there had been an emergency of any description there would have been disastrous. These are both basic thigns that we should be observing anyway, as part of looking out for each other and basic etiquette..call me old fashioned but looking out for each other as fellow fans is a basic thign.

Get there early and pick your seat. Put something on it, your arse if necessary, to guard it and keep it for yourself. If someone encroaches your space, tell them to please move on and get security if they refuse. If you have friends that want to stand with you but there aren't seats....too bad.
I will get there early but will help spread out as necessary.

I think we do have the numbers to spread out successfully. At the CCM-Bling game the cove filled more of the bay than the Marinators and it looked like there were more of them but I'd bet there were really more of us.
So time to start packing Bay 15 from the back down methinks. Let's hope we can get a bit of atmosphere going up the back of there.
They should put signs at the entrance to Bay 16 to point out what's happening if they will be enforcing it...there's a lot of people there who won't know about this.

I'll sacrifice my Bay 16 possie for one in 15 or 17. In fact I've spent the last few games 'at the edges'. It's time for this 'old fart' to let the younger ones feel the passion of 'Marinators Central'!
It's not because the passion is no longer there (far from it!). It's partly recognition that my vocal chords are not up to it after 30 years of bellowing from the terraces! It won't stop me singing, but I will need to ration it a bit.
And Bay 15\17 are starting to be genuine Marinator Bays anyway, so it's not like there's a vast difference. It just needs a core of about 10 genuine singers in 15/17 (close together) in each bay to get these rocking along with 16.
Can you imagine the 'Everywhere we go' song with Bay 16 all singing the first line, then shutting up to allow Bays 15\17 to sing the reprise, and all three Bays singing the final chorus? Would be magic!
You get a good view in 15/17 of the unfurling of the big banner too - bonus!

Part of me is willing to move to 15 or 17 for the cause and spread the love (as I have done in previous games) but what annoys me is when I look over to 16 only to see small groups of teeny weenies SITTING DOWN, NOT WEARING YELLOW, NOT STANDING UP ("for the m-a-r-i-n-e-r-s...") lets hope we get plenty of yellow and scarves in there early and fill 16 with 'active' yellow marinators, keep one seat to one fan and that will mean the teenie 'statues' will have to move sideways! ;D have we ever thought of / tried to switch our contingent to the front of the bay instead of the back? do you think this will help?? maybe?

Maybe - it'll force the brat pack to have to stand up to see.

I like the idea of getting bay 15/17 involved in the to/fro chants.except at this stage I think bay 15 would have to lead. The response should be louder, not the lead! Bay 15/17 WILL take off as our numbers grow and we spread out, but it'll take a little bit of time. We get more and more in the back and filling up more rows - and a few people who are going to put the effort in to trying to get those bays singing - and we'll be right. I'd like to see a couple of chants start from those bays and hopefully get picked up by Bay 16 (as long as they don't get hijacked by another chant in the meantime). Otherwise bay 15/17 will just be an extension of bay 16, not part of bay 16...I don't think we want 15/17 to simply respond to what bay 16's doing, that won't do much for atmosphere there. You have to admit, we've done a damn good job on the atmosphere an popularity of Bay 16 Those on the fringes of Bay 16 will have to try and get 15/17 rocking....and try to carry over any chants that start in 15/17.

Hey guys, Just while we're on Bay 16.. As you know, I'm somewhat of an 'away' fan now, living in brisbane - just back from the UK. I've jentured south for the Adelaide clash this weekend, and was wondering. Where you guys get together before the game? Would like to put a few faces to names. If at all possible i can score a 'marinators' home shirt - I'd love to flash it round Bris, really stir people up. I've bought a jersey today from Erina Rebel Sport - as a promo i was given TWO general admission tickets - i only need one, so if anyone wants a spare - no charge. Cheers Josh

We didn't seem to have many numbers up the back of bay 15...maybe a few more than usual. Was it my imagination or did there just seem to be less people in bay 16 than usual? We didn't seem to be packed in as usual (I was in bay 15 mysefl...and I feel like I owe you guys an apology for still having voice afterwards! Though my throat hurts today...) but didn't seem to be occupying any more room either. Or do I have no idea what I'm talking about? Coaster - how'd you enjoy things? Were you at the Bling game on Friday?

We didn't seem to have many numbers up the back of bay 15...maybe a few more than usual. Well I wasn't in the press box for all the game I came down to Bay 15 to see if I could add to the spread. Just before kick-off the back of Bay 15 was full with everyone sitting, so I moved to the other side of 16 and stood with Donny. Bay 17 wasn't totally full and only the back row were standing. From the press box the look of Bay 16 was much better - spread out and the standing area looked much larger.

Ok then, that makes me feel better :-)
I did think bay 15 was fuller than usual.
Now, still to get it singing ;-)

Thought we went backwards this week to be honest. I also think we really need the conductors to get people going.
Typical big crowd scenario, lots of part timers determined to stay glued to their arse in bay 15. The only time they all stood was 5 mins before the end when the scuffles(?) broke out.

We WERE lessed packed in bay 16 as the venue and security were instigating the 'one bum per seat' rule and I think it worked ok. Now, if only we could get everyone wearing yellow! (I wish someone could explain to me why anyone in their right mind would want to come and be part of 'bay 16', hard core marinators, sea of yellow, yellow army etc etc etc, and NOT wear yellow and sitting down?)

the mariners banner looked great at the start and was hoping to here the robbie slater chant (was he there) didn't see him up top at all. but need more singing and chants from the crowd. obviously the people just coming to watch with family and kids need to know a bit more about getting behind the team. maybe some flyers handed out before the game to spectators.
