YB started the thread by saying "hopefully to join with the cove". this still seems to be the plan. wouldnt it be very hypocritical of us to stand with the cove and not wear blue. if any of them were to stand with us at a mariners game i would be very appreciative of them to actually put an effort in and wear yellow to enhance the image of our bay. shouldnt we try and set the standards here?

I wouldnt stand with the Cove or the Squadron. I hope both side draw 0-0 and are reduced to 9 men.
Love to go to the game as a "neutral" but my only interest is how the Mariners are advantaged.
Also, funny to see the squadron humiliated yet again.

Myself, my girlfriend and her friend went to the previous edition of this game in Newcastle........ it really isn't a good idea to side with either group - we're not 'members' of either, and to even try and pass ourselves off as either is far too much. Besides, never in good conscience could I actively support either team (I despise Sydney _on_ the field as much as I do Newcastle - their squad is nothing but a pack of wankers) and as Greenpole said, the reason for attending is to cheer on a result that is BENEFICIAL TO THE MARINERS. Because let's face it, right now we need every single result that has to go our way to do so. Only when we're in a position of "a top 4 spot is in our own hands" can we not afford this to happen. Blah blah etc. Having said that, if we win on NYE, I'll be wanting Sydney (wankers they may be - especially Bolton, f*cking muppet) to smash Newcastle as much as possible so as to f*ck up their goal difference.

if we have to go wanting sydney to win, then surely we could be NEAR the sydney fans wearing all YELLOW just to make sure newcastle know we are there and not going for them!! They will be pissed off that we are even there. We have to stand out as if to say we hate both of you but in this instance we are wanting sydney to win FOR OUR SAKE.
That's why we should wear yellow. F#ck wearing neutral, stand up for your team.

so the plan is to no longer to stand with the cove. that was the first impression i got from this thread, but obviously it has changed. but dont take that as a complaint, watching an a-league game without stressing my vocal cords will do no harm.

I will consider going. I will sit with the cove, but I sure as hell WILL NOT wear their colours. For f*** sake people, have you no loyalty. You never, I repeat NEVER wear another teams colours. There is no shame sitting and singing with the second largest supporters group in the country, especially to bag out the scum, but you dont wear their colours. Even my 12 year old sister would know that, sheeesh

Wear whatever colours you like. I personally would not wear yellow if sitting with Sydney fans, as its there game, there team, and would not want to offend/start trouble by wearing my colours. So just a West Ham jacket then for me ;D

I think with the relationship we have with the cove, sitting near / with them and wearing marinator colours whilst joining in with the 'anti scum' chants wouldn't be a problem!

there may not be a problem with the cove, but lets not forget there will be newcastle 'people' there as well. any mariners / marinators gear would be a bad idea, all it would do is create the potential for trouble.

If your talking about the Newcastle V Sydney game on new years day in newcastle then there's a hole section to the right of the western grandstand. And i rekon yous should wear your colours if yous come up, a few of the boys from up here are going to Melbourne V CCM and i hope they wear the gold.

2006 did contain a certain Semi-Final, and just keep in mind which team has knocked you out of EVERY tournament in A-League history! (Apart from the 2005 PSC where they were so shit they didn't make the knock-out stages)

But seriously, anyone going to the game, where your yellow/mariners gear. Be proud of your team. Who gives a f*** what the newie bogans think of you wearing it. Sure we want the scum to be smashed, but wearing the colours of another rival side to support them is crazy.
