After the success of the first Hunter Valley Winery Tour I am going to organise another one. I am proposing a date of Sarurday 24 March.
Before posting details and costs I am opening discussion for requests on wineries we should go to or re-visit, and suggestions for the day.
Return stop at Wollombi Pub is mandatory.

Mcguigans is a fav of ours also. As is Rosemount, but that is in Rothbury I think which is probably too far.
Does this tour usually cover the Cheese and chocolate factory?
Karen and I would be in also.

It was good last year to meet some new faces .. if we have space I expect some Bay 6 fans may be interested. That last stop at Briar Ridge is a knockout - please repeat. What about Peterson's at Mountview. Also some of the one's over near the airport ... when I remember the names I'll post them (must have been a good day). Here's your chance for suggestions Ursus! The option of a picnic lunch is a good one for us oldies. Ok with Wollombi but can the stop at Wollombi can be a little shorter this time (as long as we can roll onto one of the last trains south)

thinking of a double stop for lunch so people have one of two options:
1. gardens behind mcguigans so people can bring their own lunch, buy at the takeaway, or wander to the cheese factory 2. bus then goes to harrigan pub where people can buy lunch and beers

24th March is the weekend that all the local cricket grandfinals are on, seniors and juniors, so i won't be able to go, I run a canteen for a cricket club and hopefully we get 2 grandfinals at our ground. The next weekend, 31st March, would have been a much better option as cricket has finished and most winter sports haven't started yet.

Sorry, Kevrenor, this is a first, but I must disagree with you.
A LONG stay at Wollombi is compulsory. Last time was just not long enough for me.

I think its a City Rail train, but it may look like a bus after the tour!? After we had a meal (some wait), a few drinks (including Dr Jurds Jungle Juice), and wandered the streets (two) - what is there to do there? What the hell kept you so amused Auburn? Ok, my wife had the breath testers! I'll take a book.

Kevrenor, the place has great atmosphere, the food is cheap and plentiful, and there is nothing like kicking back at a country pub with excellent company and just chilling out. It was the perfect end to a great day.
And, from memory, there was the entertainment provided by Beef Shibazz and his harem and a loud, fully ROCKIN' jukebox.
Actually, I could have stayed there until the wee small hours, as long as I continued to avoid the evil Dr Jurd's Jungle Juice!!

Michael, you are not suggesting that Mr Blatter is slightly "colourful", are you?
Kevrenor, try the brilliant "Red Storm Rising", by Tom Clancy, a novel that is now standard text at all of America's military academies.
Mind-blowingly detailed and researched, the story of an oil-deficient USSR's war on NATO is EASILY the best fiction piece I've read. The parts of the novel involving Stealth Fighters (or "Frisbees", as they are known) are truly compelling.
