I can't believe how memorable that was! Probably one of the funniest things to happen on here.

I'll probably be joining in at the Leagues Club as well, however getting a lift from Epping to Parramatta, it's vitally important that you guys remember at Strathfield you're getting on a Mountains train, platform 3!

Well apparently some made it to West Gosford, some as far as CCLC, and others to the Woolpack.
At the Woolpack we were warmly greated by the Blingers, but when AuburnMariner made his entrance his name on his very nice shirt got some reaction.
At the stadium I was accosted by a pre-pubescent who wanted me to get back to Gosford but I graciously invited him to watch us play in the ACL there sometime before he grew facial hair.
Some of us had tickets in what turned out to the the Persik Kediri away support area, Auburn could be seen clearly in the Cove end, some others in yellow in the stands, and Dibo up in the nose bleeds!
The game was poor in the first half but Kediri held their ground. Their no. 4 was excellent in defence. In the second half they had to open up and be more adventurous and in the end paid with 3 goals, esp. after their very good keeper was poleaxed and taken off.
I now know how high beer showers go after seeing them rise 10 -15 metres above the Cove.
Thoroughly enjoyed being near the Kediri fans .. and we now know what 'we can see you sneaking out' is in Bahasa.
Top night out. Looking forward to 2 weeks time.

Yes, their number 4 was incredible and their goalkeeper was unlucky for that first goal but once he was taken off it was all over for Kediri.
I have to agree with Kevrenor on being near the Persik fans it was great fun, as well as expanding my Bahasa knowledge to include 'we can see you sneaking out' it was pretty damn cold at Parra today though, but kind of strange to get a reaction from Dibo in the nosebleeds when we yelled at him. Have to agree with Auburn, it's a fantastic venue I really do hope Westies United will make that their home ground when they join the league.

Yes, a good night at Parramatta Stadium. Must thank the Covites for their very fair treatment of me, they're a good bunch. Good to see some Marinators in OUR club colours at the Woolpack and at the game.
Thanks Omni, I reckon it is a great stadium for football. It wasn't cold, you nuffy, wait 'til Orange & Canberra.
First half was dire, second half a Steve Corica masterclass. I would like to know what Branko said at halftime, becaude the Blingers were a different side in the second stanza.
It is a good thing that there were no sniffer dogs on the Peter Sterling Terrace (left hand end on the TV). I am sure that some of the crowd glided their way back to Parramatta Station!!
Am really enjoying the ACL, it's fun, can't wait for ACL Wednesday Nights at Blue Tongue.
Cheerio,
AM

Watched the game at the Leaguesy. It drew a good crowd with plenty of Marinator faces and some old diggers too who were right into it.
The highlight was Mick's bet for 3-0 Sydney, My bet for 4-0 Sydney and Perm's bet for 3-1 Sydney. It made for a very exciting and tense period once they were 3-0 up! If only they had Ceccoli to drill home that free kick at the end.

Hardly nosebleed seats – the view up there was great, and the acoustics of the ground really aren’t bad at all. Probably the best atmosphere that place has ever seen, and it was barely half-full.
It’s still a bit of a shoddy 80s suburban ground though, dark and dingy in places, with the hot food shops that smell like they’ve got authentic 1986 grease still on the walls and the casual visitor gets this overwhelming feeling that the only thing missing is a Pluto Pup. But the bars are fantastic – the floor to ceiling glass on the halfway line beats the hell out of a video screen anyday. Probably pretty unpleasant on a warm August afternoon, but hey…
Pretty good seating layout, all it needs is a continuation of the grandstands around the ends and you’d have a brilliant 30,000 or so seater stadium just perfect for an a-league club to blow the rooves off. Set the home end under a roof and let ‘er rip.
All in all, pretty ordinary game. Sydney were pedestrian most of the time, failing to utilise the space they were creating on the wings - when they moved to one flank, the PK midfield stacked over, and all it ever would have taken was two touches to get the ball into the newly created space on the other flank but there was never the run nor the ball to use it. The last pass was held up too often, so donkey and brosque were caught offside too often, Talay was the worst offender, though Corica had a couple of shockers too.
Defence was pretty well organised, Topor-Stanley was pretty good and oddly enough, so was Fyfe. Middleby threatened from time to time as well with his pace, but the crosses rarely found the right man. One time they did, Brosque only ballooned it over the bar. When Sydney pushed forward hard, their loose passing gifted the PK no.4 several chances to nick the ball and hare off up the park, where their pretty lardy ‘strike’ combo failed completely to live up to the leadup.
Not a bad night, though the sight of a ‘Free West Papua’ banner briefly being displayed at one end of the ground and a PK fan in what I swear was a Kopassus beret at the other indicated that we might have some ‘fun’ times occasionally on Asian adventures, not to mention some Cove-ites singing “We’re not going to Bali” to the tune of Twisted Sister’s “We’re not going to take it”.

Then there was the visit by the Breakers when 100 overcame any vocal opposition, except the rock band that played through the game! I kid you not! I don't recommend the Spring Rolls either ... my token tip of the hat to Asia that night! Yeah, looked very much like a Kopassus beret - felt like asking if his father had served in Timor! Hmmmm.... As for Sydney .... yeah they did OK in second half!

I thought FC were over doing Fyfe to be honest, he kept making these insane runs, but I do think those insane runs were more effective than Emerton's.
That guy was wearing what you thought he was wearing, and full millitary fatigues as well! Never saw the sign you talk about, but that's Indonesia for you, they all want independance but the Indo government has to try and calm that down, you don't want 78 East Timors!

Politics and Sport, should as they say never be mixed, but if a game at parra stadium is being shown to TV in Indo you can't begrudge a bloke with a litlle voice, from a litlle country, with a little banner - trying to give his 2 cents worth, or can you ? What day was it again? (thread title) pretty ironic or perhaps apt?
