I'm not saying its a bad idea, or a good idea. I was merely making a comment.
Personally I think that people do tend to not pay attention to leaflets, which is what's happened in the past with song sheets. Hopefully if we make them eye catching and make it a good read, people will treat them differently.
Re-launching the website and advertising the website is a good idea. It's on our scarves, if we do song sheets, make it prominent on there too.
If we do printed handouts I have no problems with helping. Mainly proof reading though. Seems to be a specialty.

I think it's a good idea as I mentioned earlier...........but after having a think about it my 4 main questions are : 1. How and where will we distribute this? 2. How much will it cost to produce? 3. Who will contribute to the content? as it can be a time consuming exercise. 4. What will this fanzine give us or tell people that we can't communicate in flyers or over marinators.net? Oh and the front cover looks great

1. How and where will we distribute this? My thoughts.... Pre-game Kendall Bar, Bay 16 and maybe CCLC to begin with - perhaps later on selected outlets around the coast
2. How much will it cost to produce? Working on this... Shouldnt cost much at all especially if kwikkopy give us a really special deal (we could call them sponsors in return), im thinking front page will be glossy colour and the inside pages photocopies on yellow paper to keep costs down - the plan is 7 a4 sized sheets (6 yellow paper and 1 glossy) folded in half to give 14 pages total.
3. Who will contribute to the content? as it can be a time consuming exercise. Im happy to do my bit as editor of it, i would be looking for 2 or 3 regular contributors
4. What will this fanzine give us or tell people that we can't communicate in flyers or over marinators.net? extra funds to the club for one, not everyone uses the net, it can help us reach a further audience and encourage growth in our supporter group and club (membership application will be in each issue), gives the fans a voice on matchday and would be a good read too (the club has agreed to supply a player interview for each copy), by people taking them home to read it will prompt them to get more involved in the marinators as a whole

As I'm developing marinators.net I'd like to see the site used more, obviously , but I don't see this as a website vs print issue.. the problem is more about getting people to contribute enough content, and keep it coming throughout the season. Just being a party pooper here, I've found that people are really keen with the idea of getting things like this happening at first, but then after a while when they are the only ones working on it they either don't have enough time or get bored with it and then it fizzles out. So maybe a good idea is to push for as many content contributors as possible first up, that way hopefully a few people can keep each other motivated to keep writing things for print/website distribution. It doesn't really matter how beautiful the site or magazine looks, if there is nothing in it to read then it will be binned/ignored quickly.

If you guys (the 'editorial team') are ever looking to enlist an official photographer for either website or fanzine, consider this an 'expression of interest'

By the way, I'll just say that i think the idea of a fanzine that's available around the ground or the coast is a good way of connecting with other fans who don't consider themselves marinators, and promotes the idea that the marinators are out to encourage a match-day atmosphere that all fans can enjoy. ... and the 'zine could be used to promote the website to new users, eg. run the same articles in both, or excerpts in the zine. eg. "Find this full article and more like it at www.marinators.net"

I know their are plenty of talented writers here, so you won't need me to contribute but happy to help with anything needed.

I for one will jump at it. I think having a Marinator who knows how to take a good shot will be invaluable to us. Great work mate!

^^^^^^ note price has gone up ;p
Just one question about this CCM Player. Is this an interview with the player or more of a fans player profile?
Front cover looks absolutly spiffy.

in re: to point above pricing is just there on the template ignore that - it may be even be free in re: to players, no its an interview with the player not fans profile of him although fans will get their say in the editorials and match previews etc
thanks for the comments

Yea i think the cheaper the better. Has to definitely be cheaper than the matchday programs. Allowing for some costs, it should be virtually a hand-out
