Burns was either a striker knock-down or defender touch, would have to see the replay. But what about Cassio's cross to Djite? Or Gumps' pass to Sasho. The only three they have are Lochhead (cross to Smeltz I think), McKay (Ognenovski header off corner) and Keenan (simple pass to Allsopp who took a couple of touches and finished - not that dissimilar to Gumps > Sasho) Keenan's assist was a bit better than Gump's IMO. He played a nice 1-2 and beat a couple of players before slotting a ball through to Allsopp. It was classy. Just saw the replay off Burns's goal, it came from a knock-down from Bruce Djite. |

"Help - Assists
A player will be given a goal assist if they have had a "major influence" in the build up of the goal being scored. An example could be a player providing a cross which is then headed in for a goal or perhaps a pass which allows a player to get one on one with the goal keeper leading to a goal. One important thing to remember is if a player provides the last pass in the lead up to a goal that does not necessarily mean they will be given a goal assist. The player must have a "major influence" in the build up. A player that wins a penalty for their team which is converted would be credited with a goal assist. Note a player can not be awarded a goal assist if they have scored the goal themself.
All data will be reviewed on the Monday after the game and any corrections applied by Tuesday morning. The data is provided by FOX SPORTS Stats and their decision is final.

Well, on reviewing this:
Fact - Cassio provided a cross that Djite headed in with no other touches. How is this not a 'major influence' or any different from Lochhead's cross?
My opinion - Fantasy games should err on the side of giving the assist. More points, more fun for everyone. If assists are a big factor it brings an extra element into the game. If things like Gumps' pass are assists it also rewards those who pick players who are consistently involved in goals, rather than just set piece takers. It also takes away ambiguity such as why should Keenan get an assist and Gumps not?
Fact - Gumps isn't in my team, in case you were wondering

Two of the defenders ARE shit...when those teams play anyone but each other we'll all catch up. 4 clean sheets across that back four though, genius. Bear, you're team must have done well? By that description there from FoxSports, i'm not so sure that Gumps should have had an assist. . I think he deserved the assist, he picked up the crap ball from Bolton and slotted it through... |

Yes, there is no doubt that Gumprecht was the person that set the goal up. However after reading the information from FoxSports, I'm not sure Gumprecht qualifies under there terms. Did Gumprecht play him through 1-on-1? no! Did he have the biggest influence in the goal? No Faulty Bolty did! It's not always the last player to pass it! Gumprecht set it up, but doesn't qualify for an assist, by the FS standards. EDIT- Compare this to Joe Keenan's assist for the tards: Did he have a major influence in the goal? Yes! Did he put the striker 1-on-1? Yes! |

Not very happy about the assist 'system' - not too many goals come from one-on-one set ups... at least 2 of my players missed out on assist points...
