I think me and a mate are gonna whip a couple up tomorrow. Just buy sheets, fabric paint, etc. from spotlight. Probably just a large-ish standard size; big enough for 1-2 people to hold up on 2 broom-stick length poles. The good thing is, if he gets a run in sydney, we effectively get 2 debuts and twice the use out of the banners.

get on the yellow fever forum they are welcoming of opposition supporters For those making the trip across the ditch pub details are: The Backbencher pub and cafe, which is opposite parliament on the corner of Molesworth St and Kate Shepperd place. Well, we've been there and done that - and here's the video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk1WNJGuoAsThe people there were fantastic - very welcoming and incredibly enthusiastic, (even in defeat). Shaz and I met up with Dru nearby, and we turned up to the pub en-masse. The bar filled up very quickly, and spilled out onto the courtyard and along the road - (say around 200+). At the stadium, we met up with some other Marinators, (I don't even know their names), and a few locals whose kids have adopted the Mariners. Roughly a 10 to 10,000 ratio, but we chanted every bit as good as them. Yellow Fever occupied a whole bay in 'the cauldron of fire'. The bar has a lot of rugby decoration, but they're hoping to add something more appropriate. The atmosphere was intense, and, (I have to say it), made the Kendall Room sound a bit tame! We've got the looks - they've got the noise. They reckon its '90 Minutes, 90 Beers'. Would you believe it? - they hate Sydney and the Jets too! Anyway, we couldn't have felt more welcome.

OK - spent about $30 all-up, but used probably 1-tenth of the paint. Found a plain yellow table-cloth (quite strong, and no need to worry about the edges fraying) - at Lindcraft for $6. Size is 1800x1350mm. So if anyone else has another banner idea it'll only cost ya $6 for the material. As for whether it's gonna look any good, I won't spoil the surprise. Just make sure you have 2 pairs of undies for sunday. Oh yeah, anyone know if there's any troubles taking poles of certain size or material into SFS?

I am definitely going to Wellington next time the Mariners play there. I brought some Phoenix fans along to see the Kendall on sunday and they loved it so much I now have Wellington connections for accommodation and match tickets. I don't want to wait till next season, so I'm hoping for a semi there.
