Iemma: Get behind Sydney AAP
NSW Premier Morris Iemma has caught the football bug, congratulating Sydney FC on making it through to the first A-League Grand Final.
Mr Iemma, a self-confessed fanatic of NRL team St George-Illawarra, was part of the record 30,377 crowd that watched Sydney defeat Adelaide FC 2-1 at Aussie Stadium on Sunday.
Sydney will now host the winner of next week's preliminary final between Adelaide and the Central Coast Mariners.
Mr Iemma urged Sydneysiders to turn out on March 5 for the Grand Final to give the team a huge home ground advantage as they chase the inaugural A-League title.
"It was a great win, a great win," Mr Iemma told reporters.
"Everyone come out in a couple of weeks to watch the Grand Final."
Mr Iemma said if successful, Sydney FC could expect the Government to put on a state reception.
are we not part of nsw were not even mentioned so when we win it mr iemma i hope we get a state reception you wanker

Just sent to him with a copy to the minister for CC
Dear Premier,
In cased you hadnt been told when you made your announcement about a State reception, NSW still has TWO teams in the hunt to win the A-League grand final.
That forgotten part of your State, the NSW Central Coast plays against Adelaide for a place in the GF this Sunday.
Should we win, there will be an all NSW GF.
Can we assume that you will glady give The Central Coast Mariners a State reception if they win or are you only the Premier of the State of Sydney?
I am sure the club await your response, as will the people of the Central Coast.

Is it just me or was everyone pissed off with this whole coverage in the Daily Tele and SMH on Monday after Sydney got through to the GF.
I feel sorry for you guys. These twats are too busy thinking Sydney and yet u lot dont exsist in their book.
The more reasons why I want u lot to win now.

I'm glad you know how I've been feeling while you ALP supporters (I won't assuume you are all members) have argued with eachother I've had to not take the bait now it's your turn.
I think Geordie could have been a bit more subtle but he's fairly accurate. Just like Bob Carr before him he's only the Premier of Sydney not of New South Wales.

To try and get this way from a political debate, I will say it was just a ill thought out speech. Geordie you are spot on about the crap the Daily Terror has gone on with. I can see the headlines in the Terror now "Sydney FC loses A-League grand final"...enough to make you want to throw up

Have sent him the following!
Mr Lemma,
Are you not aware that there a two teams from New South Wales that are still in with a shot at winning the A-League Grand Final.
May I suggest that you confirm whether or not the Central Coast Mariners would also be provided with a State Reception if they win the Grand Final or does the NSW State Government's interest end at the Hawkesbury River?

Just emailed Grant McBride, Minister for the Central Coast (and copied to Iemma) asking to make sure whatever is offered to Sydney is also offered to the Mariners.
Contact him, or your local MP. Its the sort of issue they love: an easy thing to organise that will be extremely popular in the community.
