Great launch this arvo hosted by "rubbernose and the tranvestite" from 2GO
My god the bloke looked like Shane and that wasn't a woman man that's a man man
The boys were relunctant to kiss her/him except for the enthusiastic kwassy who jumped right in
Our politicians are just deadset boobs who have no idea. Wyong mayor Bob Graham basically said our national team was third choice behind league and union but bugger the first two now. Also made some stupid joke about Grahame Park and his name.
Mayor Maher said we only have 160 minutes left before grand final glory. Hello dufuss, a league game is 80 minutes and a football game is 90 minutes. Boring as bat shit as well.
Had fun yelling out "where are our ovals to train on!"
And Grant McBride said that Morris "Iemma promised a ticketek (?) parade if the Mariner won. I yelled "Yeah, where is he now then?".
Our pollies are a embarassment to the Coast and the Mariners. Bandwagonners, where were they in the beginning?
Oh, nice to meet MarinatorMum.

The politicians were a disgrace - the comments to the Mayor of Wyong were pretty audible and Gosford Mayor may have well said "I konw nothing about this game" and McBride was just a smarmy git who looked embarrassed to be there.
Never listen to 2GO and he was ok and seemed to know what was what.
It was about the players and staff and they were magnificent as usual and its a pity that the time only meant a crowd of about 200.
As usual, the addition of our political masters detracted from the event

Agree about the politicians boys.
What was the purpose of the event? To send the boys off with some motivation and inspiration. What do 'official' personalities with 'official' words contribute to that? Diddly squat.
2GO needed to be involved as hosts and promoters, but looking past them why wouldn't they contact the Marinators to do something or have Lyall talk for a while or have a season ticket holder/member say a few words about what the team means or have poetryintheblood from this forum read out some kind words!
The players generally dont mind doing public appearances and stuff, they love going to schools and local clubs. but today they looked like they'd rather be anywhere else, listening to men in suits spew shit about a sport and a supporter base they knew nothing about. it was hardly inspirational for them!

In the scheme of things I dont think the players will take to much out of today it was more a way of building closer ties with the community again and seeing some of the little kids running up to the boys asking for autographs and getting photos with them was brilliant.Even the little lass who yelled out "I love Nick Mrdja" I think Nick nearly fell off his chair that someone had remembered him quality

the pollies show up because they think if they don't then they'll cop a bollocking. they show up and they cop a bollocking. sorry, it's the way of the world - pollies feel they can't really win, so it's better to show up than not, so they can at least do a meet'n'greet and be seen out and about.

Fat Cats, all of whom get a self-education allowance/grant/budget/opportunity (whatever you want to call it), and they still can't educate themselves on what's going on in their area or have a basic back-ground knowledge of the Industry (The Sport).
Kerb and Guttering, patching Potholes in poorly built roads. Anything else and their all f u c king useless.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't the mayor of Wyong been involved with football for many decades as a referee and administrator. That surely gives his soccer credentials a boost?
Let's enjoy seeing Iemma eating humble pie for a bit longer over his "two NSW teams" gaff (referring to Bling and Jest)
As for Maher and GCC, let his actions speak louder than his hollow words - release the grounds for training and give us some decent facilities (just look at the wonderful pavillion clubhouse at Terrigal Haven for the handful of union players and look at the abysmal shared facilities at Duffy's for 700 footballers/littleAs and cricketers!)

Sorry Dibo, but there's nothing wrong with these pollies actually doing some bloody homework and learning that football is played over 90 minutes. Or learning a little more about the players who have brought the game into the spotlight here, or the tremendous effort that the likes of Lyall and John McKay and his team have put in to keep the whole shebang going. Let alone Lawrie and his staff. Maybe the pollies wouldn't get such a bollicking if they actually showed some interest in their subject and learnt some of this stuff. It's just plain lazy and bloody rude otherwise- vote the buggers out. If they don't have an interest in football, then why don't they send someone who is, from their side of the Chamber? Nah they want the picture in the paper don't they - but they don't want to do any actual research or learn something new for it. Amazing that none of these boofheads didn't spruik on about Lawrie being compared to Jack Gibson or Wayne Bennett!!!

Give some of the local pollies a bit of credit. I know at least three Gosford councillors that regularly attend matches, without any fanfare, because of their interest in the game.
How ironic though, to hear the Gosford Mayor, who's championed the rugby codes for years, have to pretend like he's interested in the Mariners and wouldn't have preferred a league or union team in the area instead. At leat Graham said as much straight out

Bob Graham know f*** all about football...he was club patron of Ourimbah-Uni Football Club because we had a past president who licked his arse. Anyway he refuses to have anything to do with us anymore as one of our Committee members told some home truths about the Council at a presentation. The Ourimbah-Uni Committee will make me the New Club Patron at the next meeting. Isn't that right Mick? ;D

Let's face it...if you have the right (or wrong) character it's not hard to upset people in any walk of life, sports included. But let them show their true colours and do something positive for football....like releasing fields for training. To expect clubs to start the season with only 2 weeks of field availability is ridiculous. At least cricket have other pre-season training options like cricket nets. All we have are substandard (= dangerous) school fields which we have to fight over with Rugby.
As I understand it Wyong Shire have said some fields will be available sooner but Gosford have stuck to their guns. So right now, Bob Graham is looking a lot better than Maher for that reason alone!
