Russell Osman ..... lol ...... used to be a player with that name from England.
If anyone has seen that movie 'Victory' or 'Escape of Victory' as some call it, the one with Pele, Ardilles, Moore and Sly Stallone in it. Russell Osman is in that too!

And did anybody see Ray Kershler's sports betting column in today's Terror?
It showed a pictured of Newcastle United's Jade North wearing the Jets' home strip, and the caption went on about 'Jade North's Central Coast Mariners'. WTF?

Russell Osman played for Ipswich Town in England (the home of football), he was a great defender.

Stopped reading DT, started up with SMH, surprised by good amount of football coverage.

Article on Fox Sports - from DT
Destiny's children come of age By David Lewis February 27, 2006
FAIRYTALES can come true. That was the message from the exultant Central Coast Mariners last night as the A-League's battlers marched all the way into the grand final at the expense of minor premier Adelaide United.
Next stop after a courageous 1-0 win at Hindmarsh Stadium is Aussie Stadium and a sellout date with Sydney FC on Sunday in a battle between the penthouse and the poorhouse.
"It's a fairytale and it's continuing along very nicely," Mariners coach Laurie McKinna said. "Maybe there is more to come.
"We believed we'd do well in the finals, but going all the way to the grand final, well that is the stuff of dreams for us."
But the Mariners aren't making the short trip south simply to play the fallguys in a script which had Sydney inscribed as ultimate victors before the first ball of the season had even been kicked.
"We've come too far not to go and do ourselves justice and I have every confidence we will, " added the Scotsman, who has crafted a team from the factory floor into miracle workers.
Many pundits predicted the Mariners would claim the wooden spoon and they drifted to 17/1 with TAB Sportsbet after early stumbles.
There's still no pressure on us," he added after Tom Pondeljak's seventh-minute goal proved decisive in a match which saw the Mariners take on water for a full 86 minutes without capsizing.
The disappointing crowd of 11,405 - which included the A-League's one millionth fan for the season - was stunned as the minor premier was eliminated.
With at least 8,000 of the club's yellow-and-blue army set to swarm south for the showpiece in front of 42,000, McKinna added: "We have 90 minutes to go. We're not getting carried away.
"We've beaten Sydney already at Aussie Stadium this season (3-2) and who knows what will happen.
"The atmosphere is going to be electric with Sydney's Cove fans and the Marinators maybe showing the AFL and the rugby league a thing or two by singing the house down."
McKinna also paid tribute to a defence which never buckled under an onslaught which would have sunk most teams, paying particular homage to Socceroo Michael Beauchamp who had the long-haul dash from representing his country in Bahrain for the clash.
"It was heroic stuff from him and the rest," he added. "The spirit in this team is a big part of it but there's also a lot of ability in this team."
With celebrations on the Coast going on long into last night, McKinna added: "We've given them something to be proud of. People down in Adelaide didn't even know where the Central Coast was."
They do now.

Daily Tele is crap regarding the CCM. Its a bling paper. Lets face it, give Bling the coverage it wants this week and let the Mariners go on about the job in hand quietly.
