A year today since the Mariners had their first training session.
The best year in my football life.

How's this for a birthday present from the Telegraph (you know that Sydney daily rag that's had a Mariners related FRONT PAGE story and photo the last 2 days) In "Mariner Misfits" (sports section), read it big: "The Central Coast Mariners have won the hearts of the Australian sporting public". How proud does that make me of them - and us! (F**k, I'm gunna tear up...again) The result of FFA's belief, is that there is now a region in this country where football is the dominant code

I can't believe how quickly it has flown - oh happy dayz!
Apart from the football being here on the Coast, the best thing has been meeting so many new mates!

I am so happy about having the mariners up here. Really is the best thing on the coast and I finally have some football to follow. Good on the FFA for giving us the chance to play. And as Dj said, we've made many new friends because of the mariners we have all made new friends and thats brilliant. god bless the mariners!

Yup, its been some ride. And its only the start. We are so fortunate to have one of the 8 A-league teams here. The faith has been justified. Hopefully there is a memorable ending to a truly memorable season. It started by knocking out our northern rivals in a penalty shootout (Ah, memories) and it will end with us knocking over our southern rivals in a penalty shootout.

yeah, i cant wait till we thrash (or get thrashed) by sydney, i do not give a srts if we win or loose, i am so proud of the guys to have gotten so far this year. we made it to the finals, and if we are beaten by sydny, well we will still know we are the better team, we arent on any reality tv shows *cough* Yorke! *cough*

you can forgive all the stuff-ups and problems. Australia has entered the mainstream of world football and the Mariners are leading the charge. It's a great feeling...

How many times had football even been mentioned in the express, now it's front & backpage. What a year, I still remember all the signings getting made and the few of us who were here (then) counting down to 20.

When I left London in 1988 to start a new life, one of the things I left behind was the joy, passion, frustration and despair that comes from following a football team. RL was always a strange game and as for AFL? Thank you Mariners for giving me back something I thought had gone for ever.
