next thing she'll want to know how to flip the picture 90 degrees? while we're getting techy - is there a way to specify the image size, so that images can be downsized to not screw with the viewing of the forum?

Hi all, First of all i would like to say that i am a sydney fc supporter, and i did not come on to brag. I would however like to congratulate the fans and the team. After an intense critical debate within the sydney forums the decision was made that it was infact the Central Coast Mariners who deserved to win. I remember thinking to myself from the cove three things: The first was the incredible sea of yellow i saw at the other end of the field, it was discussed within the forums that jealousy had arised within the Sydney supporters on the forums that the sea of yellow was such a bold statement compared to the sea of light blue which merged with the bandwagoners casual clothing.
The second was the inredible attacking of the first half hour or even first half. I know that i was fearing that the mariners fierce attacking would score them a goal or two and lock them into winning the finals with our poor efforts from Yorke and the rest of the deam as embarassing as it is to say.
Finally i was impressed at how the mariners took the loss, it was incredible to shake a mariners fan after the match and have them say well done. At first people were rubbing it in but we all got along. Congratulations guys!
Hope you dont mind me posting on your forums, there are so many threads on the sydney forums about how the mariners deserved to win etc etc.
Congatulations! Luke

Interesting post about colours. I was thinking on the day that the Sydney colours blended into the seats whereas yellow really stands out.
I expect that a lot of Adelaide (unlikely) or a full Suncorp would look pretty good too.

I expect that a lot of Adelaide (unlikely) or a full Suncorp would look pretty good too. The only Club worse than Bling FC colour-wise, would be Scumcastle, and possibly NZ. Drab, drab, drab. The Tards would be borderline, with the Glory looking good when I visited them during the Breakers\NSL years. CCMC and Roar would definitely be the standouts.

Before I curl up into forum hibernation for a while...
...something I recall from the game, the significance of which (if true - and the poms on here may disagree) has sunk in today.
Early in the game I asked my regular Mariners companion Phil (who before emigrating from Manchester about 13 years ago, frequented United home games) how much this differed to being at Old Trafford (which apparently was then a 30,000 seater) for atmosphere and the experience. His answer:
"Not much"
And the world game had arrived

You need luck to win a grand final and we had very little all year. The Mariners just kept at it, every injury/setback they knuckled down, didn't whinge. I was very disappointed for the guys and a bit gutted myself. I was happy at least the referee/linesmen didn't decide the game with a dubious call. Awesome crowd, a really good day out and the fans were really well behaved. I'm getting better slowly, just smiling as I think of next year with a injury free team. Who awarded the Mom, did they spend the first 60m at the buffet and bar!!!

oh here was a chant that made me feel much better on the way home from the game.
it really kept our spirits up singing it to all of the blue people that were walking past our queque of ludicrous traffic, which by the way we don't get on the coast.
WE STILL WON CAUSE, WE DIDN'T PAY FOR DWIGHT! DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO
WE STILL WON CAUSE, ON THE COAST YOU CAN BREATH OUR AIR DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO
WE STILL WON CAUSE, OUR TEAM COSTS LESS THAN DWIGHT DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO DO !

a great day, despite the loss it was good to see the mariners come some close, they never stopped trying things, it just wasn't our day. the atmosphere was incredible, inside and outside the stadium though i did end up in Oxford street and Kings Cross and swapped my mariners scarf for a competitors shirt from a triathalon in 2001 from some irish bloke. well done to all mariners fans and especially marinators, what great support the team had. next year!

Still disappointed. Good performance by the boys, but wasn't quite enough. Farce that Yorke was MOM, should have been Meggzi. Unfortunately, like people have been saying on other threads, I think he's played his last game for us. He yet again showed on Sunday that he's a class above at this level.
Still, the players and fans (especially the Marinators) have a lot to be proud of, from Sunday, and the season in general. No-one expected the team to do anything this year, and we made the GF. We didn't fluke it either, with 12 games unbeaten leading to the GF.
The fans, after the GF and semi in Newcastle can legitimately claim to be the best travelling fans in the league. We have a uniquely close relationship netween the club and its supporters that accounts for a lot of this year's success, on and off the field.
Finally, and I hate to use this cliche, but Sunday was good for football. I know there'd been big NSL GFs in the past, but the passion of the 42,000 fans there on Sunday was something I didn't expect when the A-League was first announced. I've loved football for longer than I've loved the Mariners, and, despite my disappointment about Sunday's result, I'm optimistic about the future of the game in Australia.

Yeah, im that devo that we lost, Im stoked that we even got there. Yorke man of the match - BS, i thought he played crap, he was non existant for the first 66 minutes of the game, made one pass and got it. I wonder if the man of the match in the grand final was in his contract at the start of the season. I reckon Timpano or Ceccoli should have got it if not Michael Beauchamp. Coz both defences were pretty rock solid for most of the game. So yeah, lets look foreward to 06/07
