Hi All
Been a while. I have been reading about the transfer of Meggsy (and possibly the Heff?) to Nurnberg.
What do you think we can realistically expect as a fee for these boys? I have followed the english leagues for years so have no clue about what to expect in this regard.
I would hope, given their value on the field, we get enough to go out and get two strong replacements because anything less will mean trouble for us but on the other hand I can see us getting bugger all.
Your thoughts? Anyone heard anything I may not have stumbled across?
Cheers guys

Both Megz and Heff will be off to Nurnberg next year for a 1 season loan deal, in which of course the Mariners will get a fee for. No fee has been communicated we can only speculate, I imagine in the region of $100k - $150k for the season per player would be about right?
At the end of the deal Nurnberg have an option to buy for a 2 year deal I think, again no fees have been communicated so we can only guess, and I believe somewhere in the region of $500k each would be close?
Could be very wrong thou?

Have heard from a little birdy that Heff's transfer is not so clear cut and we may not loose him. Still not 100% to keep him. But there's a very slim chance the transer deal won't go through.

If Meggsy can break his way into the starting XI in the Bundesliga I would expect about 500,000 Euro for him. That would be a bargain for a defender of Bundesliga standard. That is assuming he both makes the XI and performs. Signed as a squad player... I really have no idea. There is no precedent, but lets hope we set the precedent high The Fox deal would drive his value up in my opinion. The A-league and the mariners having more money means more money to take him away.

DJ's about right plus I would say a percentage from selling them on for more money to another club.

Certainly a sell-on clause, they're brilliant!

Football Fever TDT Peanuts For Pilliars
Central Coast are in danger of getting peanuts for their twin pilliars of power - Socceroo Micheal Beauchamp and fellow defender Dean Heffernan. Bundesliga Nuremburg have offered just $50,000 each for the pair on loan basis with a further $250,000 each should they decide to sign them after a year. Hardly the stuff of financial dreams of the mariners.
I say stuff Nurumburg, either offer them more for the loan or we keep them.

I also saw the Football Fever article yesterday. Obviously, I hope its not true, but European clubs are known for buying players from what they see as footballing backwaters on the cheap.
I don't understand why the Mariners would agree to a transfer fee to take effect at the end of the loan now. What if Meggzi and Heff have brillant seasons and their open market value is more than what is agreed with Nurnberg?
Meggzi and Heff are still Mariners players until a permanent deal is signed. Why can't the club negotiate a permanent deal towards the end of the loan deal, when we'll have a better idea of the players' real transfer value?

don't believe the press as Pieman said.
This was like the Archie issue Victory had, they wanted to negotiate a figure at the end of the loan spell with PSV.
At the end of the day I believe both players will have to do a hell of a lot to be offered full time contracts after their loan, but the money we will recieve if they both sign will be more than has been reported.
As we said all season, a lot of the goals which we conceded came from our left, Heff's side, he will need to work on that to be a success in Germany.

I thought it was because he ran so far forward and often couldn't get back into his defensive position. But I recall also he fouled someone a beauty in those last few games (I think he kicked them up the coight or something ;D). So if his defense is a problem, why can't he be played as a midfielder out wide (the wide position giving him the opportunity to get down field - he's fast)? I know we had our injury situation make quite a few players play out of position, was Heff's place in the backline one of them? He's certainly fit enough to run int he midfield all day and has the ball skills to run around opposition.
