Will Nick play this season, or should we be releasing him and signing a local lad?

Hutch gets green lightJuly 25, 2006MARINERS utility John Hutchinson was yesterday given a medical clearance to resume full training after a knee reconstruction and will be ready for the start of the A-League late next month. "We've got at least four games left in the Pre-Season Cup and I expect 'Hutch' to come off the bench in the last two," Mariners' coach Lawrie McKinna said yesterday. "It's a great boost for us and we're also expecting to hear some positive news on Nick Mrdja this week." Mrdja didn't kick a ball in the first season of the A-League after injuring his knee in the pre-season World Club Championship match against Newcastle. Tom Pondeljak, Wayne O'Sullivan and Matt Osman are still injured but McKinna expects to start Stewart Petrie and Andrew Clark against Melbourne Victory in round three of the Pre-Season Cup in Melbourne on Saturday.

Nick is a classy player. When he is fit he will be great for us.

He'll be back, and he'll be hungry, he's just as upset, probably more, as we are that he hasn't been scoring. One Mariner will win the golden boot this year, could be Mrdja, he's going to have to work for his spot and fitness.
