slightly different take:
---------------Danny-------------------- Clark------Boogs--Vidmar------Heff -----------------Jedinak----------------- Gumps--------Owens---------Hutch ----------------------Tommy-------------- --------------Sasho-----------------------
we know tommy will be able to get to the line and create chances.
we know hutch can play wide mid (that's the position he was originally signed to play) and he's certainly found his legs of late. plus he can cover heff's defensive frailties, dropping in to cover at left back and so on.
owens shouldn't be put into a position where he needs to cover left back any more than sasho should - it's not his position and he won't play it very well. instead he should be in the middle coming from deep to create opportunities forward (sometimes practically making for an extra striker with late runs into the box) with mile behind him.

Owens impressed me in that he was still running at the end of the game after such a long time out.
I think that, fully fit, we will have a great asset there.
Tommy's quick feet and football brain feeding off Saso as a target man would work well.
I would rather see Kwas left out for an extra week (even if it costs us 3 points) than have him aggravate the injury and be out for ages

Ah well Nik, drop us a postcard and let us know where you end up.
You have just been "superceded"

I nearly posted yesterday to suggest that we go and re-sign Stewart Petrie, who's banging them in left and right for Ross County in the Scottish Second Division.
But hold everything, we got John Aloisi now!

oh, can people please stop bleating on about aloisi - as fish said he is expecting way too much money
That was my fault. I brought it up. I just thought 2 months without a contract would have reduced his ability to demand as much money as he was.
Speculating can be fun, but as this week goes on I'm getting more interested in seeing what Simon and Sasho can do this weekend.
All i can say is that is bloody funny

Ok ok in all seriousness looking to next season nik cant actually be expecting a huge wage where eva he goes. Signing Aloisi the pressure is off nik to be our main man is there any chance him having a lighter workload (and paycheck)being a impact bench player he would actually last a season. Or is it time to just send him to the dog food factory I might be delussional but send him off for surgery buy him a fully new knee keep Aloisi and next season he can come on off the bench.I'd just hate to see his knee start working and he carve us up for another mob.

Do feel sorry Nik. Finally some sunshine - being half of the most feared stike pairing in the league, Socceroo debut, then ... back to the really rotten run with he knee, blinks and the club's "patience" suddenly is revealed in signing JA (not that I'm sorry about that!)
He's not likely to look back fondly on his Mariners years.

He's not likely to look back fondly on his Mariners years. Yes he bloody will. 3 years worth of hitting the piss, dancing, fishing, doing whatever the f*** he wants like an unemployed c**t, playing the occasional game of ball, and getting paid shitloads to do it. Where else do you get to do that, other than if you know a drug dealer?

He's not likely to look back fondly on his Mariners years. we probably won't look too fondly on them either. so much potential, and yet he never got himself right. contrast it with hutch, who had a full reconstruction in early 06 and was back by the beginning of this year and really firing this year. note as well that hutch got an award from the club for his dedication to getting right at the end of season one - it seems that he was absolutely busting his arse in the gym to get himself strong and fit again. he was nervy last year and below his best but he worked bloody hard all the same. i'd like to be able to say the same for nik, but at the end of last year he was out with a bruised heel of all things. what the f*** is that? how do you get it (in a football context anyway) and why does it keep you off the park? the stories about fishing and klargo keep coming back and it's just too much to get past. i *want* to see him on the park, i want to see him scoring goals and i want it to be for us, but after more than two years of waiting i simply have trouble believing he's gonna get his shit together. prove us wrong nik, or all of us will look back on this time as a wasted opportunity.

Looks like he'll get a chance to prove his determination with the Lightning ( link) assuming he needs surgery.
