Im beyond caring about the bloke hey. I could not care less if he got fit, signed for some other a-league team, and put 4 past us every time we played them, I just dont want the guy associated with my club anymore. Sets a bad example to kids, and he is the opposite to everything our club stands for, getting stuck in and having a go, no matter what people think about us.
Go have a drink and a dance in some other town buddy.

I think it's a good idea to give him another shot at fitness in the Lightning.

He wont play for lightning. He will think it below him to drop to that level Bye Nik, thanks for the (very few) memories I can't see him playing for Lightning either - can't miss Largo on a saturday night ;D In all fairness to Nik he is gutted about his injury and he is trying to overcome it, fingers crossed he can return for us at some stage this season. Nik in the Dj box

But after running on for the final 12 minutes for Australia against Argentina at the MCG on September 11 he hasn't played since.
September 11!?! Is that date good for anything?

I think it is a fair offer. I really hopes he makes it, gets over the injury and continues on with us. We looked dangerous with he and Sasho up front. I wish you blokes would give him some sympathy, the poor guy must be gutted and more frustrated with the situation than us. FFS you do not throw your career away when you have been given the oppotunity of a lifetime. I think too many here have been spending too much time reading the Telegraph, listening to 2UE and watching channel 10 current affairs shows. You are really like a lynch mob.

Either that or iv had enough of hearing how he is out at all hours of the night when he is allegedly injured If you have an injured arm, do you go bowling? If you have an injured back, do you help a mate move house? No Do you see where im going with this?

Agree, but I can't really picture him playing for Lightning either. IF he really is gutted by his injury setbacks, IF he requires surgery which provides no chance to prove his commitment and fitness before his contract ends, Then he may have no choice but to prove himself over the A-League off-season. ... but only if he really values his Mariners contract enough. He may be happy to get one somewhere else for less hassle. I know I'd prefer to see him back to the form we saw glimpses of early this season.... and playing for the mariners If i could see into the future that he won't ever get there again, then i'd be saying "seeya" as well

Like Floss said, the big question would be whether or not Nik would want to go to the hassle of playing for the lightning to prove himself to Lawrie and the club.
Does he care for our club enough to go and do that?
Would he get an offer from a different club?
I hope Nik would take up this oppurtunity and play for lightning and help him to rediscover some o f the blistering form he showed for us during the 2005 Pre-Season cup and the start of this season. However I doubt it will.

Maybe you should check out largo the night his team is supposed to be playing an away game, and he is "to tired" to play, yet carving it up on the dance floor. And who the hell are you to accuse me of bagging out kwasnik? Have you read me bag him out? Do you even f***ing know me? Why even bring kwasnik into this? My opinion is Mrdja dose not deserve another chance. He has had enough of them already.

Would he get an offer from a different club? I think he would. Good local strikers are clearly quite hard to come by in this league and his talent is not in doubt by anyone, and I think the void in other local options would sway other clubs towards taking the risk, but probably on significantly reduced money (from what I'm under the impression he is on with us). There is a risk associated with signing relatively unknown overseas strikers too. Perth would be super keen imho, for a start. The whole thing just sucks. I think Lawrie's call about proving himself in the state league to win another Mariners contract is bang on the money and a very astute call in this situation. But hey, maybe his knee will miraculously come good and we'll have the most undisputed awesome striker threesome in the league. [sigh]

I am a bit undecided with what to do with Nik and I reckon this is a top move by Lawrie.
If he gets dedicated, gets fit and gets firing for Lightning, he will stick with us and we can go another season with a massive talent.
If it doesn't work out, another club can have him, and there is less chance that it will come back to haunt us in the form of him realising his potential.
A clever bet each way.
In saying that, I wouldn't mind seeing him going to Perth and being a success. I think our club has what it takes to move on without him, and they could use some goals over there. And he could do with scoring some if it all worked out.

Ive had 50 differing opinions on niko after listening to hear say and rumour. I had a good chat to him at training this week and he really seems genuinely shatterd that hes not playing.Gave me a run down on his knee and his prognosis and it was pretty clear he is feeling under the pump. I for one actually want him to make it back if only to show he really does wants to be here.
