Funny round so far. All away wins, 3 goals total (18 last week). MVFC win = equal first (well, fourth unless by > 4 goals). MVFC loss = stay sixth Mariners win / draw back to clear top of the table, our rightful spot ;D Kick-off 7hrs FIRE THE FARK UP FARKEN!! Yeah we got a bit of luck this week with the results goin our way perfectly.Only 3 goals this week its ok the meriners will deliver the other 15 um ok well maybe 4-1. We definitly have to change our formation to suit the team this week.If we do get some early goals and a lead i think we should pull sasho off (take him from field) we need him next week no yellows. For some reason i'm really struggling to get fired up this week not sure why

Not so much about Hutcho, I thought he was shite tonight. Gave away far too much of the ball IMO.

1- 10 min Good tempo had great early chances should have got 1 goal 11- 80 min Sh*thouse performance by everyone. 80 - 90 min Put pur heads together, dug deep and actually faught for the ball. see what difference it makes when you have some one like Simon, Gumps who fight for the ball scored 2 goals and bang Top of the league where we belong.
Tommy Pondeljak is GOD

Cockerill and Harper give the team and the Marinators a bagging in their match summary. video2.foxsports.com.au/video.php?cat=408&id=5191But I don't care, we got the three points! ;D The comments were probably justified. We played shite for 90% of the match, the Marinators were rather quiet, and 11k crowd was very poor considering it was JA's first home match, and we were playing for top spot on a sunny arvo. Better to come on all counts I hope.

Sunday games are seriously killing us, it is the most inconvenient way to end your weekend, people know that Sunday is their last day before work and they also know that 5pm is smack bang in the middle of it, ruining anything they could do beforehand and anything they could do after, its just not how people wish to spend an entire Sunday yet, bring back Saturday night games, if we had Saturday night games all year, we would of had 15K to this game, easily....
Anyway, to the game, it was painful to watch, i had afew bandwagon fans behind me that had obviously not been to a game since last season, as they thought the Kwasnik hating bandwagon was still operational, i quietly had to remind them that it crashed around the same time he became the highest scorer and the player with the most starts, anyway they were really bringing down the atmosphere for me, bagging out our players, yelling abuse at the female linesman etc, but after a while i couldnt help but agree with their criticism, we played terrible, enough said.
For some reason, when we became the underdogs again (became 1-0 down) we played really well, fast off the break and a new urgency to get the ball, Porter for me is a very good crosser and should be on that side more often as a wingback, sure his defensive game could do with some tweaks but he was the only one who put in a dangerous swinging cross that troubled the melbourne defense at all....
10 Points to Tommy, its hard to believe we started the season winning without him, very integral to our success lately, Hutch as always solid..

Hi All - I'm new here but I don't agree with some of the comments but the main thing is we got the 3 points
I thought the first 15 mins we were at our best tonight. Better than the first stanza against Wellington even.
Fact is we struggle when we play against 10 men.
My question is why did it take so long to play with 3 up front?
Also disagree with the comments about Owens, I thought he played well and in fact I would have taken Kwazy of and moved Owens to the left. I also hate to say it but I really think Gumps position is as an impact player of the bench, the guy just has more impact from there.
Bring on Adelaide I say....

Probably should have been a draw - and yet again, we only really played in the first 15 minutes, and after we conceded. We'll get smashed by Adelaide if we play like we did after they lost a player - pathetic. Only started to get into it when Gumpy came on, then Simon - we improved slightly then, and then improved vastly after we conceded. Why we didn't play like that when Melbourne lost a player is ridculous.
Owens, Hutch and Kwas were weak in midfield - they could not string decent passes to our attack, and get into position to give them options. Kwas and Hutch we both caught napping, simply standing and waiting for the ball - Kwasnik for me was not any good. Owens did some bad passes, although his early post hit was good. Vidmar and Wilko was shaky - Vidmar more so, but Boogard and surprisingly Clark we spot on. Vukovic did his job - saved what he should.
Petrosvki was good, comfatable goal, had a post, and one could tell he's a true Mariner when he scored. However getting sent off was stupid. Anyone know if it'll be just the one match suspension? However Simon was quite impressive when he come on - very enthusastic and created chances - he'll fit in. Alosisi... I believe he will improve - he didn't get many quality balls, and hasn't really fit in with the team yet.
Gump deserves to rejoin the first 11 in my opinion - he lifted the side and spark what had been a lack-luster midfield - ran fullstop, made runs down the wing, creating space and drawing defenders. He has that enthusasium and aggression that the team had been lacking for 60-odd minutes - despite the fact we should have used the man advantage.
Thompson sure likes to dive, doesn't he?
Bring on Adelaide - hopefully he play better then.

Crowd OK, could awalys be better, sunday ames killing us.
yEah there was 60 minutes or so where we could have played better, but we pulled them when they needed to be pulled, at home uner pressure, thast gold!. Nuff said.
Could have been 2-0 at the break. We gave away some silly ball in the middle of the game. (for about 60 mins or so) everyone was invloved in that. Owens played better than has benn said here IMO, he did make some mistakes, but also had some good moments. Hutch has again been great. Sasho, alllll claarrshh! Tommy P IS god! Aloisi will come good for us. AND WE ARE TOP OF THE LEAUGE!!

Also - just watched the Cock and Harps Bull that they carried on with.
Ok for 60 mins we were not great, but I didn't think they were any better than us.
I also think this will be one of the weaker teams we put on the park this year.
I'm interested to see how Matty and Aloisis combine next week. Aloisi's runs of the ball have been good and he has held up the ball well. I think our midfielders telegraphed way too much tonight, it was were's John, must pass ball to John.......

Rainbows, sunhine, and candy coated lemon drops, everybody's happy when .............
Mids played very poor Hutch & Tommy, in particular, they made up for it in the end with a excellently worked goal. Maybe some credit for the gaol to Lawie for playing three up front and pulling there defence out of shape.
Matt Simon had a big impact when he come on I starting to think he has the look more of a right mid than an all out striker, similar to Kwas. With Simon on the RM, Hwas LM, Hutch CM with Tommy & Grump sharing the other CM.

wilko: looked nervous but he'll sort that he's been out for ages.
aloisi: was again marked out of the game leaving room for sash. kwaz was quiet but all the play was down the other side.
hutch: i thought did great yeah he coffed up some ball who didnt.
porter: did great off the bench we''ll c more of him
tommy: i thought made a lot of mistakes but redeemed them with another classy under pressure cracker
gumps: well i agree with jaypee his new spot is impact player he fired us ep last time he was a sub we pit him back on starting team and he was quiet great player to have on the bench and back up when needed.
simon: well done just be patient you'll get there.
owens: was up and down but worked hard. We are so lucky to still be on top but FARKIN WOOT FARKIN WOOT we r top of the league like it or not Fark off

Todays game left my heart in my mouth throughout, especially with how many times that ball wanted to go in the net and didn't, Tommy played beautifully and really made the difference, but then again, i can never say anything wrong about the guy, he's perfect in my eyes hehehe... the support the guys get as always was fantastic, Congrats guys for winning, now keep it up so we can show the other teams in the A-League what the Central Coast are made of....Love you all Mariners.

What's the go with the 10-man curse? (or 9 as is often the case)
The long crosses were getting cleared every time. With an extra man and a cool head, there should always be a sensible pass on somewhere.
Having said that, the crosses started looking nice and dangerous once Porter and Simon came on.
But really, Lawrie needs to have a word to the guys and figure out a tactic that takes advantage of the extra man. We play better against 11 or coming from a goal behind.
Anyway, 90min/90emo's i guess
