Please Correct me if I'm wrong but as of today I believe that our crowd average for this season is now 10 881. The crowd season to date so far was announced before the game as 10083 so if you add the 11680 we got today thats how I got that number. Great news to see that we are almost up to 11000!
Per capita that means that our average is around 3.5% of the Central Coast Population. For Sydney to go close to that they would have to average 120 000 per game.
I love our club so much. Successful on the field, successful off the field ;D

9052 9274 12622 8113 11354 11680 --------- 10349
still a very good average for the coast, certainly going in the right direction.

As one who works in Sydney but lives up on the Coast, I am certain that there's more awareness of the Central Coast Mariners and the HAL by those who live on the Central Coast.
Folks in Sydney don't have as much awareness of Sydney FC (although they could not have escaped the dramas of recent weeks being played out in the newspapers!) nor the HAL. In fact, one person spoke to me about Sydney FC and their dramas and then asked when the season was starting?!
This is where the connection with the community and the ties with the local players etc. comes to the fore with the Mariners. A lot of the folks here who don't follow the HAL or go to the games at least know the season's on!

thats sydneys fault for failing to connect with the community true its a harder market to crack, but they should be doing more things like visiting schools, hospitals, local junior football, raising money for charity etc...
these are the things that the mariners have excelled in and hats off to the club

And if Sydney FC start doing all this now, or rather, start having these things made public (to be fair they do do some charity work etc.), they will be seen as sucking up to the community rather than genuinely wanting to get involved. The Mariners have been doing from Day1, they really have needed to to get people interested, and it is now part of the community's view that the Mariners are approachable and will have a bit of fun on the day. ....and people wonder why the likes of John Aloisi would want to play for us and live up here???

I played Rugby League in the Parramatta area from the ages of 7-19 and we never had a training session with any Parra players although in the era of full time professionals this might have changed. My eldest son is in his 2nd year of football and I would estimate he has had a mariner's player at about a dozen sessions.

I think that to bring our crowd average up to above 10k is quite an achievement, and is certainly something the club should be proud of.
I agree with the others that the community involvement would definitely be helping - heck, in this kind of area, I would say that community involvement is essential.
Well done, and let's hope our crowds can keep on improving!

Agree Sandman and I think the number of games at 5 has hurt us crowd wise.
As I said in another thread many of our supportors are very much family / kids types. Allowing getting ready watching game getting home. Say roughly 4 to 7:45 is very difficult for Mums & Dads with kids as it is feeding time and wanting good and affordable tucker is not what Bluetounge offers.
I think crowd numbers given starting times and add the 3, 000 at the Newcasle game who got in without being counted (ticket system broke down) are going in the right direction .

Surely we can notch up 15 000 against Sydney, and somewhere in the 18 region against Melbourne?? (fine weather permitting both days of course) That would be a nice little average bump. ;D
