I read somwhere that the finals will be:
Semi-Final: (a) 1st vs 4th H/A (b) 2nd vs 3rd H/A
Final
Winner (a) vs Winner (b) at home of highest placed winner.
Don't like this at all! Does not give any real advantage to 1st 2nd placed clubs - I mean, we could easily end up with 3rd playing 4th in the Grand Final.
Why not:
Semi-Final (a) 1st vs 2nd H/A (b) 3rd vs 4th H/A
Final: (c) Loser (a) vs Winner (b)
Grand Final
Winner (a) vs Winner (c)
This option only adds un one more game...could even be a mid-week game for Fox to broadcast.

Given that it is home and away the best team should nearly always go through.
There are always exceptions as there always is finals series.
I don't like the minor/major system. Experience has found that the team that wins the major is up against in the finals as they have a week off and have no momentum going into the grand final.
I like this system, particularly the home and away series

Ummm...
The major winner wouldn't have a week off in my example above:
Week 1 Sat: Major Leg 1 Sun: Minor Leg 1
Week 2 Fri: Major Leg 2 Sat Minor Leg 2 Weds: Final
Week 3 Sun: Grand Final

That would be better for the major winner, but it will never happen.
The final winner will have to play three games in one week - how tough is this!
And the ASA would be stupid to ever schedule a finals match on a Wednesday night when they could be getting much bigger crowds on a weekend fixture.

Fox have already said that they want mid-week games - there was once talk of A-League games being on Weds-Fri-Sat-Sun, but I don't know what happened with that.
As for mid-week games getting lower crowds - no game will give an even lower crowd - and if CCM were in a play-off to get into the GF, the stadium would be packed on a Weds...
It would be a tough ask for the Major loser/Minor winner, but who ever said that life was easy?

I like:
1 h 4 2 h 3
GFinal at highest ranked winner, and, especially as its ONLY EIGHT FRIGGING TEAMS:
A: Elimination Final: 2 h 3 B: Grand Final: 1 h winner A

Midweek games that are not finals series are a proven disaster

With the National Basketball League (also shown by Fox), they have decided they want Wednesday night games to show on Fox, and the crowds have been nothing short of disasterous (esp in Sydney), even with the normal crowds being nothing to write home about. I hope the A-League doesn't go the same way crowd wise, but have a feeling it will

Why does TV coverage effect crowds so much in Oz (in most sports), in England there are still sell outs at most EPL grounds each week whether it's on sky or not. Where as over here with the possible except of the Wannabes TV means no or much smaller crowds....

Where as over here with the possible except of the Wannabes TV means no or much smaller crowds.... Its not TV coverage ... when the NSL was on the television, their crowd averages went up. Its the midweek fixtures, for WHATEVER reason, that are death on crowds. Especially for proper football fans, a lot are either people who actually work for a living, have families, or both, and time to head out to the park midweek can be scarce. When you have a waiting list to get tickets, a midweek game is just an opportunity for some supporter that can't normally get a seat to get into the stadium and catch the team live ... but you have to have weekend sell-outs before that effect can start to kick in.
