No talk of the Confeds Cup yet.
Talk about the pool of death!
If we get through Pool A we will be very worthy.
I can't possibily see how we will beat Germany at home and Argentina.

Yeah, although to be honest, I think the tougher the draw, the better, when you consider these games are pretty much our main preparation in a competitive envirnoment as a lead up to the playoff with the Sth Americans.
I'd say we woud take this tournie more seriously than most other teams there, so anything is possible, as we have seen in the last.
Hopefully we can snatch a 2nd spot in the group, and then more than likely face Brazil in the 2nd round.
To play both Brazil and Argies a few months before our playoff will no doubt be a huge benefit.
Tough group though, sheesh.

What an exciting time for Australian football. SBS apparently will be showing the Aussie games live so that is great news...
This provides perfect preparation for the playoff with the Solomons then South Americans at the end of 2005...
As mentioned above, we will more than likely take the competition more seriously than other so hopefully we can progress. Even Germany at full strength aren't invincible, their form since the World Cup in 2002 has been abysmal...

Assuming everyone is available (ie no "injuries") should at least be competitive in our group as for making the semis that may be out of reach imho. But great in the preparation for the WC 2006 qualifiers, also a nice financial boost to Soccer Aus coffers

Absolutely BA I think your points are very relevant and as for the hoped for injection of cash can only benefit Aussie football in the near future.
Cheers D.C.

I agree guys this is the best case senario for Frank and the guys, we desperatley need games against the best in the world. Although I am surprised that we made the privelage of the opening game of the tournament ( Bit of luck there Vs Hosts Germany ) A draw against Germany & Argentina and a win in our last game should see us through to a semi spot once again. I think our record in this competition in one to be envied.Good results here and over the next 3 months should see our FIFA ranking at an all time high prior to World Cup Qualifiers.
