Admin and Mods - not sure where to put this, so please move it to wherever you think is more appropriate; I'm from Sydney intially, and have only been up here a cuppla years, whilst continuing to play in Sydney with my life long club. So I am not plugged into the local soccer scene at all, but as from next year will play locally up here. I'm 34 now, so not as nimble as I once was. Anyways, I was hoping to join a local summer 6-a-side comp, or, preferrably, an indoor comp, and I am at Forresters Beach. Could some of the locals please fill me in on where any decent summer or indoor comps take place up here? I am only familiar with the Indoor centre at West Gosford near Burger King, and one at Tumbi. Where are the Futsal centres? Any around which use the walls still? When do/did the comps start/finish? Any you can recommend? I'm lacking in a bit of fitness at present, so am looking for a mid level team to join I suppose, for a kick-around... Any info, heads up, or a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated from the locals in the know... Cheers.

The major one is at the Youth Centre at Niagara Park.
It is proper Futsal, no walls, small ball etc.
A couple of the boys on this forum are in a team and play for Ourimbah-University Soccer club. We would love to see you there next year.
Sacko, can you enquire Monday night if any teams have vacancies?
We would love to have you in our team but we have our eight.
We'll tyry to find you a team however.

I know because I believe that joint has contributed somewhat to my current lack of fitness. Greatly appreciated, thanks. If I don't find an indoor team to hook up with, I will certainly come and take a look for next season's outdoor. What All Age grade are you guys playing? How many senior AA grades are there up here, actually?

Ourimbah has four all age teams probably going to five next year.
There are also two over 35s teams.
Some of the boys on this list play AA2
All up there are eight all age grades

Rubbernose,
And when you the reach the grand old age of 35 next year, note there's a strong Over 35s winter outdoor competition on the Coast. Some clubs field two or three teams of the old buggers, such is the interest here. Unfortunately though, the CCSA (or should that be CCFA?) split the comps this year into northern and southern divisions, and it wasn't quite as fun as it used to be.
I play for East Gosford, and I used to love our trips up to Gwandalan (near Swansea). Having no teams in more serious comps, all of Gwandalan's townsfolk would turn up (beer in hand, of course) to watch the Over 35s. And the abuse that poured out of them, aimed at the opposition - hilarious!
Anyway, you shouldn't have much trouble finding an Over 35s team to play for, if you're interested in a winter comp that's not quite as pacey as the All Ages.

I'd hardly call the All Age comp pacey if me and Sacko are playing in it. In all honestly there are soem over 35s teams out there that would kick our butt. Not the Ourimbah ones but some of them out there.

I'm not actually sure if I would even be elligible for the O35's next season. It's been a damned long time since I had to worry about how old I was to play a certain age group...about 14 years to be exact! I turn 35 next September, so from memory I may be just too young by a season?

Not the Ourimbah ones but some of them out there. I know what you mean. I'm from the Sutherland Shire and have been playing in the local Premier League for more than a decade. In Sutherland there is (Premier League) PL1, PL2, PL3, then AA4 all the way up to about AA 13, then o/35A, o35B and o35C. Anyways, there was an o/35's team in the Shire which emerged in the mid 90's, of which I know quite well. They were all ex professionals, these guys. English, Scots, Italians, Argentinians, a very interesting mix. I'd tell you who some of these guys played for, and played with, but you would probably think I was talking shyte. Suffice to say, all of them played at a good level of football o/s, and a couple played at exceptionally good levels. They used to have a social kickaround in a park in the shire, of which Frank Farina was, and still does get involved in, once a week. That is how they started. Farina actually registered with these guys a few years back, but never played a game, only occassionally trained with them. Farina lives in Sylvania. Anyways, ages averaged from 35 to about 42, some older, and these guys were pure class. Scary. They played in the o/35A's in their first season and completely wiped the floor with the comp, embarrasssingly so. They won the Grand Final I think it was 8-0 in their inaugural season. And this was not a slack comp either. They then won the NSW Champions of champions, quite easily too. Next season, they then went from o/35's to PL2's, and won the comp. They then went into the PL1's (after snavelling one of our strikers, the only player they had under 35) and lost the GF. They remained in the top league there, dominating pretty much, for several years, but never won the GF. I believe the shell of the side is still playing PL3, andd they keep introducing new fresh 35 year old ringins, which in itself is a top effort. I played these guys several times, and it was an ordeal. They'd make fairly decent PL1 sides look like complete idiots. I'm sure there are some equally good 0/35 players floating around up here, you just may have not been unfortunate enough to have all of them go play for the same team, like these bastards did.
