Yep, such a surprise - not!
From BBC Sport:
Venables rejects Australian move
Former England boss Terry Venables will not take over as coach of Australian side Newcastle, his agent has insisted.
The club's owner Con Constantine said earlier this month that Venables, 61, would join them at the end of November.
But his representative Leon Angel told the Sydney Sun-Herald: "It is 100% not happening. We want to make it clear categorically that he is not coming.
"Terry had talks with Newcastle but at no time had he agreed a deal. I don't understand people saying that he had."
Venables coached the Australian national team in 1998, narrowly failing to take them to the 1998 World Cup finals.
It was thought Newcastle's inclusion in a new eight-team domestic league would tempt him back Down Under.
Angel added: "Terry has been, and still is, quite keen on Australia but he is not able to come because he has a number of other commitments.
"The timetable for the league has kept changing as well. First of all it was December and now it seems nothing will be happening until next June."
