The proposal for A-League clubs to play each other 3 times seems unfair. A simple solution:
Play home/away = 14 games Then... Top 4 plays bottom 4 home/away = 8 games
Above would result in a total of 22 games and allow all clubs to play equal number of home/away games. Also, as only top 4 get into play-offs, it would mean that the bottom 4 clubs have very important games for the last 8 games of their season.

Not ideal playing 3 times, but I assume if you play your opponents 2 times at home the first season, you will play them 1 time the next and V.V

Still not a fair season then...
Maybe top 4 after h/a rounds will have 4 home games and bottom 4 will have 3 home games?
