Too many threads are starting for other A-League gossip so I thought we could just use 1 to make it easier!
Anyway, reports suggest that Stan Lazaridis is heading to Adelaide for potential talks with Adelaide United on Friday week.
Lazaridis will leave English Premier League club Birmingham City on Tuesday, and will fly directly to his hometown of Perth.
In other news Queensland have signed German second-division player Marcus Wedau. Wedau has previously played for German clubs SV Munster, Bayer Uerdingen, MSV Duisburg, LR Ahlen and Rot-Weiss Essen.

queensland have been busy. it shows how lucky we have been to get it right straight away. even if they ge the right players, it might take them a season to gel, while the mariners already know the strengths and weaknesses and have experience together. we might have the head start for at least a couple more seasons.
good news, even though we knew there was a link there ages ago, about laza. the more roos coming back the better.

I was reading a world cup preview mag I bought the other day, and Craig Moore said, in an interview with him, that he is contracted to Newcastle for this year and the next, but is building a house between Brisbane and the Gold Coast and will be coming back at the end of his Newcastle contract, so will almost definitely play 4 the roar, if they are interested in him.
Gossip for next year really, but I thought it interesting now thats all.

STAN LAZARIDIS will fly into Adelaide next week for talks about joining A-League club Adelaide United. LAZARIDIS first came to prominence playing with West Adelaide in the old NSL and has been deemed surplus to requirements at relegated English Premier League club Birmingham City. Birmingham chief executive MICHAEL PETRILLO says LAZARIDIS is on the transfer list and it now depends on Adelaide manager JOHN KOSMINA. LAZARIDIS, who has played 222 games for Birmingham since joining from West Ham in 1999, will reportedly fly to Australia on Tuesday.

MORE DUNCAN FERGUSON SPECULATION. A clip from premierleague.com...
Manager David Moyes has not yet revealed his retained list, but it has been predicted that Ferguson will not get a new contract and, after two spells at the club which have seen him play 238 matches for Toffees, this looked like his farewell as he carried his young son onto the pitch as mascot.
There is still a chance that Dunc the punk could be a mariner!!!

Di Canio Aussie bound? - AAP
Controversial Italian star Paolo di Canio has confirmed he is considering contract offers from the A-League.
Di Canio, who has made plenty of headlines in the past year for his fascist salutes to fans, says Australia is an option for him due to a contract dispute with Serie A club Lazio.
The 37-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Sydney FC.
"Enough is enough," Di Canio said about his Lazio dispute. "They want me in Australia."
"If any club treated me like this, I would have told them to stick it up their arse."
The gifted striker, whose past clubs include Napoli, Milan, Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday and West Ham, has always been a controversial figure.
He was sent off in the English Premier League for shoving a referee to the ground.
In Italy, the headlines have been about his close affinity to Lazio's neo-fascist fans, leading him to deliver the stiff-armed fascist salute at games

Judging by the number of Chavski fans following the Bling, Di Canio and his fascist salute would fit in fine there.
No sure big Dunc would pass our no DH policy somehow.

I was watching TV the other day, not sure what channel, but there was an interview with Nick Theodorakopoulos on it. He said they were chasing Joel Griffiths, and that it was nearly signed, sealed and delivered. He would know for sure within 2-3 weeks???
Thats big news for the A-League if he returns. Shame it will be with the scum.

As long as he times any jail sentences for the off-season, he'd be a great signing

The more I think about it, the more in not so sure he would be good to us. I mean c'mon, he was a benchy for Everton almost all year, im not actually sure how much game time he got, total, but scored his only premier league goal this year when a keeper saved his penalty, he kicked the rebound straight at the keeper again, and it went in off his arm. Hmmm would he be worth it???

No - I don't really wanna see Big Dunc here apart from when we play Newcastle so he can kick the shit out of Ned Zelic!

Nevin Signs Two More Thursday, 11 May, 2006 - 3:32PM NEVIN INTRODUCES TWO MORE SIGNINGS
Knights Manager Paul Nevin introduced two more new faces at the first official training run with his players at North Harbour Stadium yesterday.
Jonas Salley and Sime Kovacevic have both been signed from Australian clubs but Salley is from more distant shores.
Salley is a 24 year old Ivory Coast defender/midfielder who has enjoyed an eye turning season with South Melbourne in the Victorian State League. That form attracted the attention of A-League clubs but it was the Knights that secured his signature.
Kovacevic is just 18 years of age but you wouldn’t believe it upon seeing his 1.89m frame. Nevin is excited about the prospects of the Australian born defender and says while he may not feature in first team action immediately, he is one for the future.
“Sime (pronounced: Shimee) is a player with huge potential but again is physically strong for his age and will be pushing more senior players for a place in the team sooner rather than later. For now though the focus with Sime is about developing his talent and producing a quality Knights player for future seasons.”
The squad is working towards an official start to the pre-season programme in early June with sessions designed to prepare players for the rigors of an intensive 10 week programme including the pre-season cup tournament.
