the game kicks off in about an hour and i expect it to be a good game. With Netherlands expecting to put out their best side i honestly dont think we will win but it will be a good warm up game for the world cup and it will give us some sort of idea how we should play agianst much stronger opposion than us, like when we play brazil.
But in saying that i dont expect us to win who knows in football anything can happen...
GO SOCCEROOS!!!

Righto predictions boys Ill be the negative bastard I think well get beat 3-1.Taking into account the games and time the Dutch have spent together of late and their cohessive style and our boys by all reports have flogged themselves for a couple of weeks and have only had the couple of games.Im looking forward to our midfield matching the dutch and hopefully Viduka can turn it on up front.

2-1 Holland - result is not important thou as long as they aint smashed (which I don't think will happen)
I hope to see some confident passing and patient build up play.

Best player of the half Schwarzer for me, then Chippers.
The main problem was simply the Dutch being first to a lot of 50-50 looking balls. Our boys settled into it as the half went on and looked slightly better. They have a more spread out formation and seem to have two or three players around the ball wherever it is on the pitch. Hiddink needs to work out how to exploit the space this has to be leaving somewhere else.
Overall we got pwned and there is no doubt the gulf in quality was on show there. We're lucky to only be 1-0 down and lets see what they can do in the next 45!

I take it the Craig Moore apologists wont be watching his defending for the first goal.
Hopelessly out of his depth at this level and without the fitness to cover it up with a high work rate.

We didn't play with a great deal of spirit for the most part... Man our defending was WEAK...ever heard of MARKING? Schwarzer had to do more work than he should've. And our defensive line was outpaced all over the shop, definite weakness. Didn't watch the whole game unfortunately, though I was disgusted with all the bloody diving going on by the dutch.....

Thought Moore was ordinary, Schwarzer should have shut Kalac up. Chippers (why did I say Lazaridis, I have no idea, well another stupid post) ) was playing great and to hold on against Holland for 30 minutes with 10 men is great.
Hopefully David Moyes will shut up about Cahill.
Is it just me or does Rasic sound like the history guy from the nike ad? (no disrespect intended)

You're right omni, lazaridis was one of our best Well how about that! Great result and I predicted it! There's no doubt we were 2nd best and didn't 'deserve' a draw and we were lucky that we didn't cop a penalty against Grella's handball or one of their 4,503 chances going in. They lost a lot of momentum after we kicked more than half of their midfield off the pitch too remember. So what did we learn? With a little luck we can get results against the best teams in the world. Hiddink has the ability to make game-shifting adjustments at half-time. We can tactically cover a sending off with excellence. No more penalties for V-Bomber. I thought Aloisi did better in his time than Mark as well. Schwarzer is god. Now we hope they all stay injury free so we have the luxury of a full selection for Japan. Lickmystein will be a run for the 2nd stringers with match time for Kewell and maybe Cahill to keep them ticking towards full strength and fitness. Bring on the cup!

What the hell was with the Viduka penalty? He hesitated on the way in and tried to place it over the keeper instead of running in and blasting it into the back of the net...

Was it just me, or did the cameramen look like like they had been to a "session" in Amsterdam? I lost count in the first half how many times the ball got lost on the left hand side of screen.
We were lucky, but gutsy. Again if I were Dutch, I'd be asking questions as to why Holland did not win 4-1. It must be very frustrating wearing orange.

We were lucky, but gutsy. Again if I were Dutch, I'd be asking questions as to why Holland did not win 4-1. It must be very frustrating wearing orange. the shots were being framed for widescreen (16:9). which is fine and all, 'cept most people don't have widescreen tv's. they should have either had the camera dudes frame the shots for regular screens (4:3), or transmit a letterbox format picture from SBS on the terrestrial analogue broadcast. ***NERD ALERT!*** ...oh, and 4-1 would have been pretty fair. they had near twice the possession, three times the shots, and to be honest i think there were a few fouls (mainly slightly mistimed tackles) that i thought they had a right to have a shout for. moore was AWFUL in the 1st half, and actually quite good in the second. our central defenders do spend too much time jogging with their arms in the air, not enough just getting into their man's back and sticking to them. too much space in midfield and not enough confidence to close them down. held the ball reasonably well and with some confidence, only to be let down by loose passes (clean pass, clean pass, clean pass, defence opens up, give the ball away...). a few little speculator balls forward would have worked really well had the skill level been up to it (oh god, i'm morphing into craig foster!) and the v-bomber was doing pretty well and rather than not playing well himself i think he was let down by service and a lack of men running off him in good positions. good dutch defence helped - they seemed to zone up quite neatly, anticipate our gameplan and pick balls off at will. oh, and before i forget, gotta get the buzzwords in - technical, top drawer and world class.

Goalkeeping kept us in it. Defence looked a bit sus. Mainly due to moore being was too "casual" about his defending. Everytime i saw him he seemed to be watching the game, or just throwing a casual leg out.
The dutch struggled a bit once they lost their entire midfield. Could be our plan against brazil.
I think perhaps van basten told them to ease it up a bit for the 2nd half, due to the injuries, and potential for more. We did well with 10men on the park. Some good signs, though i thought sterjokski (cant spell) was ordinary. Unlike against greece he didnt get in good positions, and like against greece, he showed an inability to pass or cross.
Passing sucked from australia. Got a bit better, but if we turn the ball over like that, even japan will rip through us.
All in all aussies played pretty ordinary, and only goalkeeping kept us in the game.
Kalac now has 0 chance. I remember the days where he would fly all the way out to australia and be happy to sit on the bench. Milan seems to have made him a cock.

oh, and scott chipperfield had the best game i've ever seen out of him. popping the only decent cross from open play that we had onto viduka's forehead, and two glorious tackles late on against that diving whinging SOB arjen robben - fantastic. 10 points!

Thanks Dibo, that's a perfectly simple explanation for what appeared to be hashish-induced photography.
Our defence was lucky. Chipperfield was very good, but again I wonder if Moore has fully recovered from his hammy worries.
Look, I'll take a 1-1 all draw against them in Holland. With 10 men, our boys put up a good fight. Guus will not be happy with the technical deficiencies, but the result speaks volumes for the squad and their determination.
Bring on Monday Night!!!

Was it just me, or did everyone think the cameraman was terrible. When the ball got around the 18yard box it seemed to always be outta view.
