The ABSW has reported that Zelic wil part company with the Jets as his wife is epecting their second child and will be returning to her native Germany full time with their other child. If this is the case the Jets will have a few dollars freed after severing ties with their so called stars. They are believed to be chasing Paul Okon who would make a handy acquisition for their club.

ABSW reports a lot of things....Stavroulakis has been on the mark recently though and with the way the Jets are going this wouldn't surprise me. At this rate they'll have a no dickhead policy by the start of the season.

Can he leave SBS as well please.
Okon, they must be total idiots, the guy was quality but I hear almost crippled with injuries now.
Mind you, playing for the Jests he can stand next to Nick and watch the ball being hooooooooooooofed over his head for 90 mins.

I heard Zelic moaning about the Jets needing to get another striker, and I thought, hey that's your own team sport! If he does go, I'd say that would be the end of his career as a player - I mean, who else would want him?

NEWCASTLE United Jets owner Con Constantine last night signed former Socceroos captain Paul Okon to a one-year contract as the marquee player for the A-League club. It followed a dramatic day for the Jets in which captain Ned Zelic asked for a release from his contract because his wife is pregnant in Germany.
"I have just signed Paul Okon for one season with options," Constantine confirmed late last night. The 34-year-old midfielder, once considered the best footballer Australia has produced, played last season with Cypriot club APOEL FC.
Okon is in Sydney after finishing his commitments with the club in March. The Jets are still yet to find replacements for goalkeeper Liam Reddy and striker Ante Milicic, who have been traded to Queensland Roar.
The club has also lost key midfielder Richard Johnson to New Zealand.
(BTW, if Okon is so worthwhile having, why did he play in Cyprus last season and not the A League? Answer = crippling injuries)

I'm not sure on the Okon signing for the Jets but we shall see! There's better options out there than him IMO

There's better options out there than him IMO as a marquee player there are definite better signings than a 34 year old has been from the cyprus league with chronic foot problems if perth was not in such a mess i would have tipped the jets as wooden spooners this season

Jamie McMaster would have been his teammates at Leeds so he'll know which foot to step on.

I like to get my Oak-on but im pretty sure this Okons gone sour with age bad purchase. the Jets should really check the used-by-date on the players they buy. *looks at Milicic and Zelic*

I feel really sorry for the football public in Newcastle.
Since the beginnking they have been plagued by poor administration, politics and egos.
The fact that part of their salary cap is being eaten by players that are at other clubs clearly point to incompetance and no long term vision.
The Newcastle football public, in which I was part of for many years, have had more grief than happiness. Given their passion and how strong football is in Newcastle they deserve better.

Can someone CONFIRM if Coveny has gone to KFC? If so, geez, NUFC have lost some talent. Zelic, Milicic, Johnson, Coveny, Reddy, the nucleus of a good team, despite the MASSIVE egos. Wow, I wonder what Nick Carle is thinking right now?
It is clear that Nick T has no room for any other ego than his own. I do feel sorry for the Newey football public, as they are being shafted from pillar to post. The Squadron must be spewing!!!
Yes, MM, Newcastle and Perth have some issues at the moment. I would think that Melbourne, with Claudinho, Fred and Archie, will be contenders, along with the Meow.
All of this points to a 5 team competition for the final four, assuming the Sheep Enjoyers are toothless across this side of the ditch.

thing have definatelyspirraled out of control for the scum. I can see them digging up george best for a 6 month 10mil guest appearance. Though he would undoubtably get the scums player of the year award, as he would be the only on who qualified as a footballer
