Afternoon all,
There were some questions raised last night regarding the Socceroos Asian Cup Schedule at home.
After checking the FFA Website, here it is:
1. Qantas Socceroos v Kuwait, 7:30 pm, Sydney Football Stadium, 16.08.2006
2. Qantas Socceroos v Lebanon, 7:10 pm, Hindmarsh Stadium, Adelaide, 31.08.2006
3. Qantas Socceroos v Bahrain, 7:30 pm, Sydney Football Stadium, 11.10.2006
So, two games in Sydney, which is great news. The first game in particular is just before the start of the A-League, giving us a chance to give the Cove some stick before our BIG game 10 days later at the same venue.
Closer to the event and when the World Cup settles down, I'm sure we'll all get GGA emails re: tix and so forth. It would be great to have a wonderful Marinator presence at these games. One wonders if these are FIFA approved dates.
Anyway, two games in Sydney means two big nights. To quote the great GB, YOU BEAUTY!!!
Cheerio,
AM

Auburn I thought the same thing this morning and did some research: FIFA International dates 2006: 16th August (V Kuwait) - listed as a friendly date though, so only 48 hours required 2nd & 6th September (away game I think) 7th & 11th October (V Bahrain) - listed as an official date so we get the week 15th November Can be found at this site (PDF file)

I'll wait and see if Dad and my younger bro want to go, if so I'll sit with them, if not I'll be in the GGA.
And Dibo: one of the benefits of supporting the Mariners is that we wear a very similar colour to the national team.

a very similar colour to the national team. Yes, beautiful isn't it? I can wear my new Socceroos strip to Mariners games, or is that Mariners strip to Socceroo games? Ooo er, I'm a tad confused. Bay 23 can wear their pale blue Sydney FC strip to Italian Azzuri games (very appropriate, seeing as we all hate the diving cheating, Eyeties at the moment), Roar fans can wear their strip to Netherlands games (They are a Dutch backed side after all). Victory could support the Scots, with their navy blue and white strip, and go home early, Adelaide can support the red decked perennial under-achievers Spain. NZ, Jets, and Perth Glory have weird strips that no right-minded country would wear, except some third world tinpot dictatorship. But we get to support the mighty Green & Gold!!!!!!!!

The GGArmy is Bay 26, next to Bay 23, which has been taken by the Fanatics. In the Super Socceroos DVD there is one Sydney fan who took his FC scarf to the Uruguay game

PS. I'm waiting for the GGARMY offer to decide where I sit. I suspect they will be Cat C, therefore either bays around Bay 23 or at the other end where we were for the grand final. I am happy with mine in Bay 24, but I may be in the media box for either Kuwait or Bahrain anyway. I hear that Cat B Football Family allocation for Kuwait are gone. The big question for us is: Will Meggsi be picked, and will he be released by 1.FC Nurnberg? I just bought a new Socceroo scarf, but I'll stick with my now lucky 'Tragedy' shirt for now!

In the Super Socceroos DVD there is one Sydney fan who took his FC scarf to the Uruguay game Out the front of the stadium there was a group of Bling mascots and people trying to drum up support for the bling in their sky blues. Our group started up our mariners chants on his approach and they quickly receded

The GGArmy is Bay 26, next to Bay 23, which has been taken by the Fanatics. Still no word from GGArmy! FFA release below: "SOCCEROOS’ ASIAN CUP TICKETS GO ON SALE TUESDAY Public tickets to the Qantas Socceroos Asian Cup qualifying match against Kuwait at Sydney’s Aussie Stadium on August 16 will go on sale on at 9am Tuesday (11 July) through Ticketek and fans are urged to move quickly to buy the remaining 10,000 available tickets. The Asian Cup game represents the Qantas Socceroos first game on Australian soil since their outstanding performances during the FIFA World Cup where they qualified for the second round only to be beaten in heart-breaking fashion in the final seconds by Cup finalist, Italy. The Football Family has responded positively to their exclusive ticketing window this week by snapping up a large amount of tickets to the match with Kuwait." Yea I got an email telling me that there was a game on but nothing until tonight, well done GGA and even then it didn't actually say what bay they were in so people (I don't know if it was sent before 5) could buy tickets today, instead they have to buy tickets in another special pre-release, why can't they just send out the message when the Football Family release comes out???
Needless to say I didn't buy my tickets with them I'll be in Bay 27 with Dad.
