Where do you start??? Kisnorbo starting ahead of Meggsie proved to be a terrible mistake by Arnold, he had another shocker. Kewell's first touch has been woeful, Culina's been inefective, Bresciano's been missing. Although he had a better game tonight Wilkshire is crap. Neil's sending off means we'll probably be stuck with Kisnorbo again. All in all, that was shit!!!!!

I can't see Arnold keeping his job beyond the Asian Cup, and on current form and pre-Cup preparation thats a good thing

On a lighter side did anyone else see Serious in the crowd draped in the Aussie flag?

Arnold should count himself lucky if he keeps his job beyond 24 more hours!
I quote the crowd this time "ARNOLD OUT, ARNOLD OUT"
What a disgrace, not just the result, but the comment afterwards, basically ensured he will never be getting another job. Well done idiot!
I did see serious, I thought that would have been the turn around given the coonan incidents in the world cup!

I kinda liked his comments afterwards. Basically said I don't care who you are, if you were shit, you're gone. Now to see if he sticks by his words.

What a shambles in defence, and duds in the middle and up front tonight. Clearly a mix if odd tactics and a dislike for the warm conditions. Some (a lot) of our passing was atrocious when compared to Iraqs. As for their goals - that was Under 8's. Which is being unfair for the littlies. Kisnorbo deserves some blame, but most of his more esteemed teammates played just as bad, or worse. Not promising for the future. What would Johnny Warren be thinking. I suppose we now at least have a good strong regional competition every few years.

Arnold deadman walking..., there are some positives though, looks like Meggsy can get a start now, although he should of been there the whole way ahead of Kisnorbo that is all, this is one of the most depressing periods i have gone through after a game, not the fact that we are losing but that we are playing so poorly and seem to have no idea how to play in Asia, or how to pick a squad plus coach atm, i am angry and depressed so this post might not make much sense...

Before everyone starts calling for Arnie's head on a platter, did you hear what he said "there are some players who don't want to be here". That is truly appalling (and Mark Viduka's response didn't exactly fill me with confidence that it wasn't true) and to me it's not a lack of depth, it's that for too long our "depth" has had to relied on who is playing overseas. Seriously, why the f@%k were A-League players ignored, does anyone reading this seriously think that an all-star A-League team couldn't have taken on Thailand, Vietnam or Indonesia, look how good they have been, how many European players do they have? (With the team that has played the last two times I'm tipping Thailand to win by three). If a "star" from Europe doesn't want to play for the Socceroos tell them to "shove it". It's time for a new attitude.
I hope Arnie starts with Carney. Milligan, Carle and Thompson and sends home the rest "injured" so that the backup reserves can play.

If we thought the Euro players were underdone then imagine the HAL players, except for the Olyroos. I think there needs to be at least 6 changes, and it is some of the big names to go - Kewell, Grella, Neil even if he wasn't carded, and also Kisnorbo and Wilkshire. Can I just add, Arnold out!

We only have one highly rated defender left from the WC squad in Neil, (no Chippers or Moore) who is playing poor himself & we are expecting too much of the others who are far from world class players.
You only need to look at the tactics used by Armold in the last match against Oman to see he isn't up to international standard & would be more at home coaching at the slow pace of the Aleague. The team have dropped from world standard to sub Asian standard since Guus waved goodbye.
Your comment about too long relying on oversees players does not take into account that we can never expect to be a force untill we have many, many more players good enough to be in the best comps in the world playing with & against the best players in the world on a regular basis. Like it or not, the Aleague is too low on world standards for it's players to compete on the world stage & I think we are very unrealistic in our expectations of them.

Yes but the Euro players requested a rest period, look at the Uruguay match, and are mostly underdone because they are saving themselves for the next season back in Europe, if it was a world cup I guarantee it would be a different story. My guess is that any A-league player would have happily spent a month in Asia getting fit and acclimatising and what A-League club would refuse to start the season with a couple of recently returned, match fit, Socceroos? C'mon imagine Wilko and Vukovic coming back for v3 as fully capped Socceroos!

And what about the Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand (all doing exceptionally well in the Asian Cup), I have no doubt that any A-League team could match any team from the leagues of these countries. For f@%k sake Sydney FC were competitive againt Urawa Reds, one of the best teams in Asia. I think that everyone keeps forgetting that this is the Asian Cup., there are no European or South American teams, the standard is different.

I saw Serious..quality moment.
Unfortunately that was the highlight of the game.
We're out.
I thought it would be a steep learning curve at the Asian Cup, but not this steep.

Ahoy there gents - the TV star himself writing from Bangkok. Only some of the blame for this debacle can lay at the feet of Arnold - he's not the best tactician in the world, but to see him a shattered wreck on the sideline and getting as fired up as he did leads me to think that his post match comments re: players not wanting to be there, are more true than we thought they ever could be. Viduka's body language and response was disgraceful - harden the f*** up and play your arse off for your country or don't even bother. I personally did not join in the massed chant of "Arnold out" - it was tempting, but I didn't know the full story at the time. 90% of the blame for this rubbish (today particularly) can lay at the feet of the following players: Viduka - fat useless piece of shit lard who clearly didn't want to be there and would rather think about his new house in Sunderland (or where the f*** ever) than who might be best to give the ball to. To see him ambling around the ground as if nothing was wrong during and after the game was f***ing shameful, and it was the first time I have ever been ashamed to be a Socceroo's fan. Utterly terrible. Kisnorbo - had a go, but he's just not up to it. Neill - *hangs head in shame* All that money going to your head prettyboy?? A disgrace to the Australian shirt today.... and to get himself sent off just adds to the insult. Wilkshire - played with heart (one of the few who did), but left back simply is not his position. The few players who did look like they cared (Cahill, Archie, Vinnie G, Kewell) were hamstrung by the rest of the team walking around like it was a Sunday picnic. The media and the FFA have been hammering it into this lot that they would piss this competition in and that the road to the final was a cakewalk - how wrong we were. Oh, and if any player uses the heat today as an excuse - please call bullshit on them.... it was 10 degrees cooler today than the Oman game, and for the entirety of the second half there was a lovely breeze blowing across the stadium. Speaking of the stadium, it's a delightfully impressive concrete monolith, and I can't wait to see what it will look and sound like on Monday night with 60 000 odd crazy-arse Thai people going nuts for a team that actually gives two shits about their fans and the tournament they are in. So basically.... Arnold should probably lose his job, but he was going to anyway. To see him and Kosmina almost smiling when we were down 3-1 was a bit of a worry, very Farina-esque. Methinks the whole "if the coach is mates with the players it will be okay" attitude has to go if we are to succeed at any sort of level. Viduka is a disgrace. Neill isn't too far behind. Kisnorbo - oops. Can't wait for the media fallout from Arnie's comments though, that's gonna be fun. P.S. f*** Asian football and it's play-acting/simulation. An utter disgrace to sport, let alone football. GRRRRRRR
