could be good, or a dud. why dont sydney look for a bit more depth in quality signings than go for the gamble on a marquee player? i just think its financially risky for Sydney fc

Hmmm thought Sydney would have learnt not to rely on a Marquee to save them, given the now financial shoestring budget they have.

Also played at Celtic, good to see Boro being regarded as a big club ;D If he comes I can't wait to see him play. As with any player it is a gamble but they need someone and if they keep spike and casper as well as sign him they could still be formidable. of course he might do a fowler and just wine and dine in Sydney of SFC money. all hail the lord of the riverside!

Juninho linked with Oz switchJul 31 2007
by Eric Paylor, Evening Gazette JUNINHO is set to return to Captain Cook Country!
But this time it’s Australia, because Sydney FC are the latest club to court the legendary Brazilian star.
Sydney want 34-year-old Juninho to play for them in the new campaign after failing to lure former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler Down Under.
Juninho is currently in-between clubs since being sacked by Brazilian club Flamengo in May.
Story continues

He had an argument with coach Ney Franco after refusing to be substituted at half-time during a 3-0 quarter-final defeat at Uruguayan side Defensor Sporting in the Copa Libertadores.
Juninho was approached by Hull City last month and met up with manager Phil Brown, though the two clubs were unable to reach an agreement over a potential return to England.
Now Sydney, who originally made a move for the midfielder last month, have renewed their interest.
According to Juninho’s agent, the Brazilian is “keen on a move to Australia as he has previously developed an affinity for the country”.
However Sydney coach Frank Lowy has competition for Juninho’s signature, as clubs in Brazil and Qatar have also expressed interest.
It’s more than likely that Juninho will be moving abroad again, so if the Sydney move fails to materialise, then the Middle East looks a potential destination.

He has probably just had a word with his Brazilian mate Romario, who told him "Mate, Australia, they pay ya shit loads of coin to do f*** all" and he jumped at the chance.
For me, flop.

Wait and see.... the fact the article above mentions he got sacked by his Brazilian club, for allegedly not wanting to come off the field smacks of him being a bit precious, but there may have been more to it. To me, one player will not fix what is happening at Sydney FC, no matter how good they may be - or have been. With two of FC's young guns (Milligan and Carney) dead set keen to get away from the club, you have to start wondering what is so horribly wrong?

Yeah Sydney have major issues and I think the fact that he was reject by Hull City says something.
He is certianly no spring chicken and I think he will simply add to Sydney's injury list come mid-season.
Only problem I see him causing is a good free kick or two.

There were reports he was only in Hull as a publicity stunt, to get the team in the papers.

I hope he is a success. Like it or not it is important for Sydney to be strong in the A League.
He was a great player once. Certainly on of my favourites in years past. I hope he goes well. I will certainly look forward to watching him play in gosford.

I agree, Sydney really need to remain a powerhouse in this league in order for it to reach its full potential, even though they seem to be looking for "get trophy quick" schemes rather than focusing on the mariners approach of grassroots and community stability, which may i say, is making us the envy of the fans Australia wide.
If juninho is to make an impact on this league, it will have to be with his feet, not his past, we all know what happens when you let a reputation win you a spot on the team, nearly cost Adelaide a grand final...
