I heard JF went through every NSW NSL team at one stage or another, so he could end up having to buy more than one set of balloons to blow... Or having more than one hat burnt!

If you thought there was fragmented support at Spirit, you just wait til SFC gets started. Its gonna be like nothing you have seen before!

That's going to be the best bit. With no away support, at least we'll have enough factions within bay 23 to keep us entertained for a season.
Hopefully all the various NSL supporters turn out, one week it could be MacTerrace banter with the SWF, then the Misfits from Olympic next the White Trash Kiddies from Parra Bay 41.
Cheers Hammer

The first sign of away support will be the best thing to get the fans together at SFC. Give them something to aim their aggression at rather than each other.
Mind you, I can see CCM going the same way with the Rowdies, Bobs and Macs already not seeing eye to eye on songs, balloons etc.
Nothing wrong with different groups of support anyway IMO, you will never get a firm consensus on how people want to support, so people will go off and do their own thing and be joined by likeminded supporters.

I would be very disappointed if this happens. I think everyone agrees that for the success of the club we need one unified fan group. The history and size of Sydney will ensure that will not happen at Sydney FC but we have a unique opportunity here to have something great, something passionite, and something worthwhile. It shouldn't be difficult to put egos aside and make some conciliations. One person doesn't maketh an army. Instead of blanketedly dismissing things because the opposite was the case at Sydney or Newcastle or wherever, we should be keeping an open mind about this. The true test will come game day when things are sounded out and poo pooed by the group or adopted. After all no song we sing will be orginal. The tune or lyrics are just bastardised versions of other songs and probably sung a million times by football fans around the globe. We have to be mindful of the history where each supporter has come from. Heck, we can even adopt some of that history or songs that were at the core of those supporter groups. I think we are quite lucky in the fact that we already have some songs to draw on because of the history of the supporters in this group. This puts us on a stepping stone for a greater repertoire of songs. f***, if one person decides to bring a balloon it means he went to extra effort and I will embrace him. If a person tries to be daring and tries to create a new song I will be supportive. It is easy to criticise but alot harder to be accepting and concilitory. What is obvious is this that most will be unsupportive if someone brings in something that detracts from the support. I'm happy to sit down with anyone willing to turn up game day and scream and shout, and see what they can contribute, and how we can meet common ground. The last thing I want to see is a splintering of supporters group. For a club the size of the Mariners this would be sheer folly.

I think you are all worrying unnecessarily. Having the Bobs and the Macs at NSO was an advantage, the team had organised support at both ends of the ground. NSO was large enough to require this. To call it a split is making it out to be something that it was not. It evolved and people gravitated to either depending on how they wanted to support the team. It was superior to having one group of singing fans stuck in one location. In the final year at Pittwater the two groups coexisted in friendly rivalry side by side. Let it evolve, organise, but don't try and force it. I will make a prediction. If we end up with more than one group of singing supporters there will be reps from Breakers, Spirit, WHU and new supporters in each group. To Marinemick: Don't worry it will be awesome and good. To MrCelery: Of course you would not spill beer unless there was a goal. Something to think about, the Cros and the Sydney FC Macs side by side.

I just think it is way better to have one large supporter group than two smaller ineffective ones.
What happened at away games?

All I am saying is that the two groups at Spirit was not the big deal people are making out. Others can comment better than me about the early seasons away games but the last few years, with the odd exception, were pretty quiet.

No idea-
The Bobstanders waved flags, wore spirit shirts etc. McCartney had none of that. You just wont mix. Completely 2 different types of supporters- So dont give me that s&&t about your supposed unity up their and how that will make you a better club than SFC.
Hey and what about you guys not liking other people from other clubs having a say on other forums/ Most of your names are constantly on the SFC forum-Hipocritical!!!

To the contrary
I believe that most of those guys arent interested from the old Sydney NSL clubs and they will stick to state league. Maybe thats a good thing maybe not but i can tell you their is no rivalry so far within the supporters forum.

Hmmm Hammer, a victim of the falling literacy rates SFC I wouldn't worry about any rival factions within the CCMFC supporters, quite simply two passionate supporter bases (ie from the Breakers and Spirit), you won't see the division that was a problem at NSO/Brookvale/Pittwater as the main problems have gone the seperate ways with the new A-League (last I checked there was no Bob Stand/Mac Terrace at Graham Park )

They are really 2 extremely different types of supporters- One into the pomp and flare of making everything colourful-the others more into just watching the football
I think the Mariners will be the Juventus of the Australian league.
One side right wingers-the others a hotchpotch mixture of left overs-

sfc when the league starts up and everyone tries to find their place at the sfs, they will soon realise that JF will bugger up everything he touches. the man dislikes any supporters that dont follow in his 8yrold ways. there will be many factions within sydfc. you will see.

Hmmm Hammer, a victim of the falling literacy rates haha, I was at school when literacy was important. Your post, however, is far from literate. Did you go to school around Parramatta by any chance: "Hmmm I would be more worried about the Spirit supporters than came on board, the Sydney United supporters, Sydney Olympic Supporters, Parramatta Supporters, and Marconi Supporters and the various groups there in mixing in the SFC supporter group "
