As long as he runs rings round the A-Leagues defenders I don't care!

I believe that he played for Nacional in Uruguay for a season and then lost interest when he came home. He only really "came back" from NSWSL/Div1/Futsal when he went to Marconi last year to join up with his brother.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

I was talking to a friend of mine who plays for Marconi U/20s (Played Bench for First Grade early in the season) and he thought it was a bad signing. He thinks that Leo will only run as far as half way and only do it for 75 minutes. Odds are that we won't use the 20th signing very much but it would be good to see him get used occassionally.
I don't know much more about him myself, you sound right eccles.

yeah, that's the feedback i have been getting
however, how hard did he train at marconi?
i've been thinking about this and i really think with full time training he might be a revelation and a very good buy
he will shed plenty of pounds, become fiiter, become faster and coupled with his obvious very high skill level lawrie might be just on the money
let's hope anyway

I'm with you mick, I can't see Lawrie signing him unless he saw something that the rest of us didn't see. the only one who can see the 'whole picture' is Lawrie himself.

Well maybe he is initially there as a specialty bench man, coming on for quick sharp stints towards the end when we need to nick a goal back or find a winner. Hopefully he can get there physically though and increase competition in the midfield.

The Central Coast Mariners have completed their inaugural 20-man Hyundai A-League playing roster with the acquisition of exciting 24-year-old midfielder Leo Carle.
Leo Carle (pictured), the older brother of Socceroo Nick Carle, penned a deal with the Mariners after an impressive season for the Marconi Stallions in the NSW Premier League.
Carle scored three times this season for the Bossley Park club, adding further credibility to claims he is one of the brightest prospects in the nations premier second tier competition.
With experience in the old NSL with Sydney Olympic, Carle will make his richly deserved return to Australia’s top flight with the Mariners in 2005/06.
“I never thought I’d get this chance and I’m delighted to have earned a contract with the Mariners,” said Carle.
“I think they’ve done very well in the pre-season, a lot of people probably didn’t expect that, but I think that shows that Lawrie and his coaching staff have done a great job getting the team ready.
“Hopefully I can be a part of future successes with the team.”
Also appearing on Carle’s CV is the 2001 Winter Super League Player of the Year award and a stint with Uruguayan giants Nacional in 2000/01.
Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna is looking forward to the prospect of Carle joining his now completed squad, which performed so honourably recently at the Club World Championship qualifiers.
“We’re very contented with the squad we’ve been able to assemble so far and Leo is able to add that South American flair to our line up,” said McKinna.
“His form for Marconi in the NSW Premier League has been exceptional and I have no doubts he can make the shift to the Hyundai A-League effortlessly.”
Most recently, Carle has been jet setting around the globe with the Australian beach football team and the Central Coast Mariners contingent at the Philips Lighting International Soccer Sevens in Hong Kong.

Given the tunnel scuffle that his brother started after the CWC match with Lord Mrdja we could see the two brothers going at it after the match.
