Roar fans to drive home happy from games
Thursday, 18 August, 2005 - 11:48PM
Queensland Roar fans have an extra incentive to attend games at Suncorp Stadium this coming Hyundai A-League season, with one lucky person at the every game set to walk away with a brand new car.
Roar Chairman, Mr John Ribot, announced the major $150k match day promotion for all Roar home games today, with one lucky supporter will drive away in a brand new Hyundai Getz.
John Ribot said the promotion was the club’s way of adding further value to the match day experience for Roar supporters.
“The Hyundai A-League is a new venture and we need the support of the Queensland public. Football Federation Australia have built this new league and Queensland Roar have built a new team, but for it to be successful we really need people to get behind us.”
“Everyone who registers for the promotion and comes to Suncorp Stadium for the Roar home games will have a chance of driving away in a brand new car that day,” Ribot said.
“I’m sure this will be an added incentive for people to come along and watch the team play.”
“We want to get the biggest crowd on the opening weekend and make history for football in this country. The challenge is there for all Queenslanders to help forge another great football team for our state,” he added.
Fans can enter by text messaging their name to 19 99 ROAR (7627) or by phoning 1900 99 ROAR (7627) and must be in attendance at the stadium on game days to claim their prize. The lines will be open from midnight tonight (August 18th) to register.
Hyundai Motor Company Regional General Manager, Marc Beardmore, said the promotion further enhanced the relationship between Hyundai and Queensland Roar FC.
“We are proud to be associated with both Queensland Roar and the A-League. Hyundai are strong supporters of the game on a worldwide level and we are absolutely delighted that we have been able to assist in getting the Hyundai A-League off the ground.“
“We hope the football community recognise just how hard FFA, Queensland Roar and Hyundai are working to provide them with not only a robust and professional league, but also the match day experience that has been lacking in the past.”
Beardmore added: “I would like to echo John’s (Ribot) sentiments and encourage the public to get on board with the Hyundai A-League and make it a success. The framework is there and all it needs now is for football supporters to get behind it and turn up in their droves.”
Queensland Roar’s Hyundai A-League campaign begins at 3.00pm on Sunday 28th August at Suncorp Stadium when they take on the New Zealand Knights.
