Had a great chat with Fish today, sat there in my deck chair watching my lads play cricket in the most magnificent park under a cloudless Adelaide sky! Why does it always bloody rain when we play at home? was the discussion (amongst other things) One of those things being.... whenever I see pics in the paper, or magazines or snippets on TV, bay 16 is filling up to a point of being practically full! fantastic stuff....only thing is, 70% is NOT wearing yellow...what the f*** is going on? ...what happened to ''Sea of Yellow"? Can't someone put the word out that we are at least TRYING to get bay 16 full yellow? I don't mean $35 marinator shirts or $100 mariners replicas...but a simple $3.99 best and less yellow t shirt over the top of whatever you arrive in. and Charles....ditch the 'clear' ponchos mate! only yellow! hahhaha I would gladly hand out leaflets to let everyone who arrives in bay 16 NOT wearing yellow to let them know what the go is. Come on Yellows....lets make it a sight to behold! " Bay 16....Sea of Yellow"

Nice one lou! We were beaten by the better team tonight. Wearing yellow is less of a concern than the mindless numbskulls that throw bottles. Things are undone easier than they are made.....

Beaten by a better team but didn't deserve to lose 5-1 (I will save my rant for the inept twat in the fluro for elsewhere) With Bay 16 you are getting a lot of hangers on so to speak, hoopefully they get the idea to wear yellow, be it Mariners Shirt or a Lowes special.
RV as for the dropkicks throwing bottles, not to be condoning the behaviour but the frustration at what happens on field is to much for some to handle That being said the Security and/or police should have shown them out, rather than decide to have a chat to AM

I walked around a bit during the match and at half time, checking out the crowd and the 2 supporters bays. Bay 16 had a significant number of people sitting in the front rows, not in yellow. A fair number of them were younger folk. They may have been hangers on, but they weren't joining in the chanting or standing up. It does dull the effect the Marinators can have if they occupy a spot in Bay16 and not do this. But, because they are younger I think we have to consider the fact that these folks will, in time, become Marinators if they like what they see. I had a young guy - may have been 10 or 12 - squeeze in with me on the side of bay16. He didn't get much of a view of the game, cause folks were standing up. I pointed this out to him and suggested he move forward to where folks were sitting. But he didn't want to, he wanted to soak up the noise. By the second half he'd cottoned onto a couple of songs and started joining in, and he was smiling. So I guess that while there may have been non participants amongst us last night, in future we may swell our ranks if people enjoy the experience and realise that making the noise and standing up is the right thing to do in Bay 16. And I think if we were to just confront them and tell them to stand up, sing or f**k off, we may lose potential Marinators. Also had a teenage couple next to the youngster who seemed to be in Bay16 for the first time too. Same story - just stood there for a while before they realised that the singing and chanting is a part of the deal. No need to be blunt to these folks, they may just need to be shown that this is the situation. And tell them to wear yellow next time. BTW, the youngster had a Marinators jersey on, and I think the couple wore some yellow. But a lot of folks sitting up front weren't.

Perfect post PTBD. I feel that everyone who is standing and singing for the boys are already in yellow. The people down the front aren't under our control, and I'm glad they actually make up the numbers in the bay on nights like last night when the Cove was honestly filling up all but one or two seats in every row of their bay right down to the fence and then some of the bays next door. The fact the Cove was so impressive last night may have helped kids like the ones you encountered realise what the Marinators are striving to become and decided to do their bit. In time we will get there and everyone will stand, sing, and wear yellow by their own choice, not our pushing them or giving ultimatums.

I certainly don't condone any kind of 'ulimatum' either, but do the people at the front at least know what the 'ideal' is and what is trying to be acheived?

Lou and WT: I spoke to a guy at work who said he had feedback from the match from a couple of kids who went and that they enjoyed what they saw (except the result of the match). I think it was really the first time that the Central Coast folks have seen a formidable away supporters group barracking against us, and us responding. I felt it was a true sideshow to the match, and showed the folks at the game what can be achieved as far as creating an electric atmosphere.
