To all Marinators
As many of you know I am Andrew Clark's Dad.
Last Sunday I had a discussion with a number of representative members of the Marinators and explained to them the importance of the next AGM of the Leagues Club.
The Central Coast Leagues Club AGM and election of directors is on Friday, 25 November 2005 at 8.00 pm. The deputy chairman Peter Reynolds and I are being challenged for our positions.
Ray Maher says this is the MOST IMPORTANT ELECTION IN HIS 52 YEARS AS CHAIRMAN.
You may not be aware but the board of the Leagues Club presently consists of 9 Directors. 6 Directors represent Rugby League and 3 Directors represent other sports. Over the past 9 years I have endeavoured to get that changed and have now achieved that goal if there is a 75% majority vote at the AGM. If passed any member of the club can then be a Director of the Club with the exception that there can be no more than two directors representing and one interest group. i.e. no more than two bowlers, two football, two jazz club etc. Unfortunately there has been a challenge by the Bowling Club to stop the changes to the Constitution. They have also nominated 4 members to stand for the board at this election plus the challenge by one of them to be Deputy Chairman. There are about 200 Bowlers and be rest assured they will all turn up to vote as they want to stack the Board with Bowlers. Being driven by self interest and if they are elected, they will not be affected by the new Constitution changes. The elected directors at this AGM will not be affected by the changes at any future AGM. The CCLC consists of 48,000 members, it should not be run by the self interest of 200 Bowlers.
Not only that Charles Friel and I have furthered the acceptance of the Marinators and Mariners into the Club and that relationship can only grow and prosper. Unfortunately if Peter & I are defeated at the next AGM then I can assure you that may change dramatically for obvious reasons. Further I have encouraged the Board over the past nine years to support the game to the tune of over $300,000.00 in cash & kind. At present the board has accepted a major submission I made to them recently on behalf of the Mariners and Marinators. A directive has been given by the board, to management, for them to submit recommendations back to the board, at its next meeting, for the avenues in which the Club can further that support and sponsorship. Lyal Gorman is well aware of that submission. The majority of the Board is now giving a positive acceptance of the new culture of Football in the Club.
Chairman Ray says he will retire within the next 12 months and Peter Reynolds being deputy chairman is Ray's chosen successor.
As you may be aware Peter is a former Olympic swimmer, a local lawyer and a life member of Central Coast Leagues Club.
HE IS THE RIGHT PERSON TO TAKE OVER WHEN RAY CHOOSES TO LEAVE.
There is a serious challenge. If you are a member of the Leagues Club WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT. Please come to the meeting and vote.
The meeting is to be held in the main auditorium and the doors close at precisely 8.00pm.
There is no proxy voting and therefore we need you to be there.
EVERY VOTE IS IMPORTANT TO THE CLUB'S FUTURE.
The meeting is expected to last less than an hour and refreshments will be provided afterwards.
How I know that this will be difficult for most of you as we have a big game that night at the stadium at the same time. Be that as it may and for the future acceptance of the Marinators and Mariners in the club I am asking you to make the supreme sacrifice on this one occasion. I feel that to miss half a game and your vote will make a major difference. You may leave as soon as you have voted.
As stated before my position as a director is also being challenged. I can assure you that this is the first time in nine years that I have campaigned. This issue is so important it would be irresponsible of me not to do so.
I have attached a "How to Vote" form which may be of assistance to you. By all means print a copy and take to the meeting. If you agree, then please inform those of your friends who are members and encourage them to also attend the meeting.
Thank you sincerely in anticipation of your support.
If you have any questions please ask. If I am a little delayed in getting back to you I apologies as I will be out there trying to right a wrong over the next week and a half.
Yours truly
Bobby Clark
