The club wants our input on what direction these things should be taking to best suit us in future, and the fairest way is to open it to all for comment before meeting with representatives.
- Any ideas to improve the Kendall Bar on match day in the short or long term?
- Where do you see it in 5 years?
- Sports Bar for watching away matches, same questions?
- What else do the Marinators need/want from the club, without putting any limit on requests?

Personally I think it's going pretty well.
In the Kendall Bar, perhaps the music playlists could be submitted by the marinators, or removed altogether. Having to shout over 'Hungry Eyes' and such songs doesn't really scream 'football' in my opinion.
If giveaways, competitions etc become more common, like every match, a better structure could be set up making use of the stage area and a microphone to maximise organisation of what is going on.
As for watching away matches in the sports bar, I see this as, over time, becoming a real tradition for the growing contingent of mariners fans. The club could promote the nights in the same way as their other weekly events, and really specifically cater for the mariners fans on the night. Arrange the tables and chairs more suitably, hang some club colours up during that day. There could be mariner-related giveaways or competitions drawn at half or full time, anything from raffles, lucky door prizes for fans dressed in yellow, to guess the half time, full time score, first scorer, first yellow card, first player to miss a 'sitter' pots etc for simple free beer vouchers and plenty of laughs.
At the moment there is often tension between Marinators and bar staff as to a misunderstand as to how 'entitled' we are to the sports bar when the mariners are on, so in the short term i'd like to see this settled once and for all.

From what I havee seen all seems ok, just wondering there was talk of a signed mariners top on the wall of the Sports bar, has any progress been made in that regards and also any possibilty of mariners decorations (Balloons,Streamers etc) in the Kendall Bar prior to the game or something else???

i agree with the need for better music selection. im making a cd up for this sunday
id actually really love to see the away games viewed in the kendall. with a prjecter aimed over the stage area and viewed on that wall.
for the give aways, we could mabye have some one at the door selling tickets, so you grab the people as they walk in.
decorations would be great. dont forget less is more sometimes. and the mariners wall should be a good addition.
its great at the moment though.

It hasn't been bad what the CCLC has done for us but it could be better.
I really like jimmy's idea of turning the Kendall bar into our own little area on game days where we can either sink a few beers before the game or watch with only people who are interested in the team for the away games.
And if that happens and we get the Kendall bar I think a signed shirt could go in the sports bar. But have maybe signed portraits of the squad around the walls in the Kendall and in years to come will have signed photos of every player that has worn the mighty yellow and blue.
I think that would look pretty good to have some club history around which is what we will need to build for the clur to become a bigger success.

Charles if CCLC could provide a hangover cure it would be much appreciated. ;D Seriously, I think it's working fairly well. I think we need to grow our numbers before we can ask too much more of the club (although those bingo ladies are freeloaders so why not us too ) I cant think of much we can do to improve it further, though I'm happy wherever there is beer. Where do I see it in 5 years? The way it was before the Sydney game, but every week would be nice. Away games - I'd prefer sportsbar. As charles keeps saying you dont need to talk to the bar staff. Speak with the DM if you have any issues.

I usually complain about the Kendal bar, but I do think that watching the away games in there would be a good idea. The atmosphere from the small room when we score would be electric, and there need only be 1 staff member in there for our needs.
The idea of some photos in there of the players is a good idea also, in the long run. At the moment, whilst our numbers are small, its ok how it is. Youv got 2 crawl before you walk. But I totally agree with the music thing. I had 2 sit thru ABBA last week. yyuuuccckkkk.
In QLD, there is a pub there (cant remember its name) but they are painting the inside the colors of the team, and also doing the photo thing I believe. This will probably never happen in our little garden shed, but I guess its a possibility for the future, depending on how bit the A-League, and the Central Coast Mariners. become.

damn, I was about to request ABBA be played before all our home games ;D
Kendall bar for away games sounds good - if you could get a projector in there.. everyone crowded round a little telly would be bad!

Still feels like a Rugby League Club to me, with all the ARL jumpers and photos about the place.
That make me feel a bit of an outsider - tolerated by not really welcomed.
I suppose there is a Northern Spirit shirt hanging up too, but where is all the Mariners memorabilia?
The Newcastle Tennis Club still has a Mariners shirt hanging up behind the bar! I drink there Friday nights, and always come away with a smile!

Celery: Do you mean Breakers shirt?
I think we need a place to watch the away games that feels like ours not just a conveniant pub. That would involve yellow and blue all over the place, a jersey, a couple of photos, etc. That's a long term goal but something I want to see, right now I want the whole deal about watching away games settled, and no music, Yellowbeard was incapable of writing a chant to Fernando so it has served no use!

Yes the music is crap. Bring what you want or let me know what to buy. A few shirts will not make Club NRL. Our wall of fame will go up. I have been asked for it to be in Kendall. Opinions? Keep them coming. I will do what I can straight away, and look foward to meet. See you Sunday Charles

Yes the music is crap. Bring what you want or let me know what to buy ......... Charles Here's a radical thought ....no music? Or am I just a deaf old fuddy duddy who likes to be able to talk to and hear the person in the next chair! Abba? I must have been out at the 40 mins queue at the cafe! I would have sung along to that! How about the Easybeats? We've got at least 2 votes on here? "I've got Friday on my mind...." (actually Sunday)

We know there's a Spirit shirt in the Sports Bar ... I believe he was asking about the shirt in the Newcastle Tennis Club - you said it was Mariners! If it was Mariners - to quote someone - you beauty!

Good ideas with all the memorablia people, I particularly like the idea of signed portraits of each player, that would certainly add to the history as the years ticked on.
Charles, in my opinion most of the 'mariners wall' decorations and memorabilia should be focused in the K Bar. Out of the two it is the one that is essentially 'ours', and when away supporters come before a match and we give them 'the tour' off all our stuff it will really give us a feeling of ownership of that area!
I could live either way, but think the sports bar would be better for a way games. It is bigger and more open, more welcoming for fans outside the marinators, and i think they should be included in what we do there!

I agree with most here, the CCLC and Charles have been awesome so far and has only got better each week. I personally like a bit of background music but something everyone can enjoy. In relation to the Mariners wall of fame I really don't mind where it goes, but my personal opinion would be where everyone can see it and not just the Marinators, the Sports bar. The Coasts national team should take pride of place in there! It would be nice to have something in the Kendall too but on a smaller scale, maybe a few pictures of the team? Away games doesn't bother me either, Kendall or Sports bar it's the atmosphere is great when your with your mates anyway but going into the Kendall to watch them may reduce the friction between other staff and NRL loving people? In 5 years time I have no idea where we will be? but I hope we are bigger, stronger and louder Other people may disagree with this comment too but it's just a personal opinion, the hampers for the first person in the kendall etc are great and it's very much appreciated, but I prefer the idea of something like first 5 people in gets a free drink? or if you ever have some free merchandise to give away use that? Ideally it would be nice to run a competition before each home game and communicate the prize on the forum, that then gives everyone a chance of winning even if they can't get their early due to work or family commitments? Charles just makes the rules, e.g. you must be in the Kendall by a certain time? pjimmy - put Yellow Submarine on your playlist

Keeping it in the Kendall would seem to me the RL aspect trying to keep football away, in our own corner, the wall should be in the sportsbar, it's the Central Coast's team not the Marinators team and it should be seen by everybody. As DJ says do something in the kendall but on a smaller scale.
Oh and Celery, I was asking about the Newcastle Tennis Club, you said there's a Mariners shirt there, so I thought you meant Breakers.

What about something similar to the "fight club" the club runs. Everyone gets a voucher for a free beer and hot dog?

Im in agreement with it all.Its the coasts team and the memorabilia stuff should be in the sports bar.The Kendall would be great to watch away games in as to not interfere with people who have no interest in our team.Id be happy to supply paint to paint it Yellow and Blue Charles even a sign over the door saying Mariners Bar or something as there might be fans who drink in the club beforehand and dont know we are in there. Another alternative could be move the whole thing to the Bowling Club as I think kids and families can get in there and mix.

The Bowlo really works for me, ie, this weekend, with a posse of Mini-Auburns, I can't go to Kendall's, which really frustrates me.
I reckon that CCLC, vic Charles, has make a big effort to help us in 2005. With our support of Bobby Clark, this should continue into the future.
Omni, I suspect that Celery is referring to the Hunter Mariners.
I'd like to see the walls with lots of signed footy shirts, not just ours, but the FootyRoos, any international team that plays at Stade des Marins, and, shock horror, the other A-League teams. This would mean the walls are dripping in footy history and creates a place that our kids will walk in and automatically know that they are in FOOTBALL territory.
An honour board for each year's best players would also be a nice touch.
