Gentlemen and Melsy, With time for this momentous trip fast approaching a few details for your information. Payment for the trip is due this friday at the Melbourne game.Amounts due will vary person to person so if your not sure what you owe just ask Ill probably add 10% or more but it'll be for the greater good. ;D Departure time from CCLC wil be 4-4.30 out the front of the main entrance. If you require to be picked up it may be possible so leave your suburb on here and well get in touch with you. We are staying at the Motel Formule 1 in Windsor. Probable departure time from Brisbane on the Sunday will be around 7am. Any other questions please post here so we can answer quickly or give me a ring. Cheers

Departure time from CCLC wil be 4-4.30 out the front of the main entrance. I don't want to be critical but has this been thought through? Mate, if I've got to stay up all night anyway, and drive, I'd much sooner not cut it so fine, and leave at a time like 10 or 11pm, so we drivers can have decent coffee breaks on the way and get to Brisvegas early enough to book in and then for some site seeing, or even sleep, before we head out to Caxton Rd. pubs. The CCLC closes at 3am I think, so do we southerners sit sipping soda water until then and wait around outside for 1 1/2 hours? Don't get me wrong - I can live with the time, but I may have to take you at your offer WT, and 'try' to get a few hours sleep down here until 2 and then drive up and leave my car at your place. No trains at 3am! Watcha doing yourself young AuburnM? Anyway, this is getting exciting already!

I like the idea of leaving late at night. Less traffic, everyone can sllep for a while, and I can shave off Fish's eyebrows ;D
Seriously tho, I really am a big fan of leaving late Friday night. We should sort this out ASAP.

Kevrenor,
I am at a Staff Retreat at Terrigal on Feb 2-3 (life's hard sometimes, isn't it?). I will be staying on the coast on Friday Night.
I would prefer what sleep I get to be in a bed, not cramped up in a minibus. The 4.30 start gives us 17 hours to get from CCLC to Lang Park, which should be plenty. In fact, a dip at one of Kurrawa, Burleigh or, gasp, Main Beach had been mentioned in dispatches if we got a flier and were in the vicinity of the Gold Coast ahead of schedule. Yeah, I know Bear, everyone can sleep at night, but as a driver, I would prefer 5-6 hours sleep instead of driving after a day's work.
We'll sort this out on Friday. By the way, I have succumbed to the advice of the great Orca (that would be Fish!!) and we will be taking the Pacific Highway (take note, Dru).
Cheerio,
AM

Not at all, it's holidays though my body isn't used to starts that early at the moment. Cancel the trip!!! I think it should be drivers choice as to when we leave. I think the reason for the next morning idea was so that people could get home from work, have a decent shower and feed etc, a few hours sleep, gather their things and head off. You make it Friday night and there'll potentially be drivers trying to drive a decent stint after they've been up 18+ hours. Oh and omni bring your stop watch. I reckon we just see how long it takes to get from Newcastle to our motel, and use that as a guideline on when we'll need to leave in the morning. just work that part out as we go on the trip...there might be no one who wants to do the newy thing come sunday morning....

How many from Sydney are heading up on the bus? Is it just Auburn and Kevrenor? If so I have a couple of spare rooms your welcome to use on the Friday night rather than book a hotel or sleep in a car. I have spoken to Fish about picking up the buses on the Friday from Tuggerah with him and then leaving it at my place on the Friday so I can drive it into Gosford Saturday morning (If you wanna stay at mine we can head in on the bus of course). Anyone who lives between Berkeley Vale and Gosford I may well be able to pick up rather than driving and leaving your cars at Gosford? I would prefer to go via Ourimbah and the Pacific Hwy due to it being quicker (yes omni I have timed it ) but if going via The Entrance Rd better suits us I can do that. Failing that if it works out better for someone else to have a bus on the Friday so it's easier, then I'm happy to find my way to CCLC. For the drivers purposes I think an earlier start on the Saturday would be better as they can get some decent sleep, and especially given the fact that they have to do the same thing again 24 hours later.

You can get me on the way through. I'll walk down to the bottom of my hill so it's not a detour.

A: I would prefer what sleep I get to be in a bed, not cramped up in a minibus.
K: OK, I'll catch a coupla hours at home and drive up, as long as I can leave my car somewhere safe - or take up DJ's kind offer!
A: The 4.30 start gives us 17 hours to get from CCLC to Lang Park, which should be plenty.
K: I know I would have liked a few daylight hours in Brisvegas rather that cutting it so fine! So, OK!
A: By the way, I have succumbed to the advice of the great Orca (that would be Fish!!) and we will be taking the Pacific Highway (take note, Dru).
K: No f***ing way mate!!!!! Pete I believe also agrees with me about the Pacific death & speed trap.
It should be up to the drivers alone!! IF the majority want the death trap I'll go, but not happy. I won't be there on Friday - you know my views!
I might have flown (and stuff the driving) If I'd known at the start that we were going to change from the NEH plan.
Sorry to be so argumentative - but it should be sorted in some sort of consultation.

I really dont mind either way. I would prefer 2 leave late Friday, but im not driving, and all I care about is cheering the boys on anyway (and, of course, the ladys ) and whatever time we leave, I will get 2 do both, SO BRING IT ON QUEENSLAND.

DJ & Fish: About picking up the buses. I live in Mardi, just up the hill from Thrifty Tuggerah. I HAVE Friday off, and am able to help you guys with the delivery of the buses. I previously PMed Auburn with the suggestion that I help with this, allowing those who might have otherwise cut from work, to get on with work uninterrupted. I can even drop one off to a convenient spot, like a local workplace, and then go back for the other. I know both of you guys have probably done enough haggling with your employers this season when you have had to ask for time off for Marinator stuff, so here's a chance for someone to give you a hand. Let me know, OK?
