I just think that 20 or so 14 year olds holding up bits of cardboard is a little bit lame - when you have >2,000 away supporters singing "shit team no fans" come back and see if you can impress us

greenpole has summed it up massively for me.
most of what the squadron does is probably fine, it might be f***in excellent, who knows, because from such a small group it all seems to fade into an ordinary mediocrity.
they are always talking about breaking the mould, doing their own thing, being unique, 'out-passioning' any challengers, but it doesnt get any respect. maybe they should work on being more like the marinators, or the cove, or the gloryshed, or the den, get to that level then worry about developing their own identity.
now they are disgracing the toon army by claiming a congruence there. without the obvious communication lines of a forum we probably wouldnt even be aware there was a squadron yet, because we've barely seen it and hardly heard it.
instead of 'getting pumped and prepared' for friday by telling everyone to cut up as much newspaper as possible, how about getting out there and making some people come down here. Lawrie burned you lot in the local paper here again today, and all the confetti and geordie slang in the world aint gonna earn you anything.

Pull the other leg. I was 4 bays away from you guys and didn't hear a peep. I've read a few times in that thread that The Squadron should't bother throwings docket rockets, or throwing confetti coz we are nothing compared to the South Americans in the photos above. Maybe the Marinators should stop singing because yous are nothing compared to the Toon, Cove or Kop?

There were easy 2000+ of visiting supporters last week. You heard us, we heard us. But that was last week. Now its the jets turn to put in a good effort (finally) and bring some numbers down. If they dont do it now, they simply havent got the fan base like they think they have.
Fair play to them if they want to bring their confetti, its all good and as crook says , youve got to start somewhere. Our songs were pretty shite at the start but they are slowly getting better with time IMO. So what if there is a bit more rubbish? I for one dont think about it when i throw my beer empties down and the packaging from those stupid 'thundersticks' gets everywhere, not to mention the seat i MAY have busted when DH nailed the kfc. If it all adds to the atmosphere its a small price to pay. Anyway, there will be plenty of wet tissues floating about if , shock horror, the kiddies cant find Ellen this week (boo -fookin- hoo)

Hey throw stuff on the ground, I encourage you to do it all through the match, wasting time is a great idea when you're one-nil down!
However I'll give security a heads up, in this country throwing stuff is an offence that can get you ejected (look at what happened at the Gabba on Tuesday) so if you want to risk getting ejected, waste time in a game you're behind and look like the 5 dickheads that you are, go ahead.

Come to Gosford, fill 3 bays of GA with hard core supporters. Have a good smattering of support throught out the expensive seats. Then start crowing. Until you do that "Sit down, shut up, Sit down shut up."
BTW I was at the game and watched all the replays. The only time the squadron was noticeable was when I was leaving the ground. There were a bunch of what appeared to be 10 year olds hanging on to the bars at the back of the bay screaming abuse at all who passed by. They really reminded me of a bunch of caged baby monkeys separated from their mothers. Pitiful.

Hey everyone, First things first. That picture which was posted is actually owned and copyrighted by myself. I have not given permission for its used in this forum, so next time please gain permission from me or ill make sure it gets removed. Secondly. As for all this crap about who was louder on last friday night. BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT!!!! There is no accurate way of measuring the loudest as there is so many variables to take into consideration. I have a hobby of sound engineering, so i know bits and pieces about this. A bunch of people close together singing will be able to amplify at greater volume per person, than people spread apart. Ie Mariners had their whole support base in 3 bays, while Newcastle support was spread around the whole stadium. If anyone has a marshall quad box (guitar amp) etc, you will know what i mean, as those things are bloody loud. Furthermore Fox sports will not be able to give a good indication of how loud each group was. Have you guys seen the big hairy mics at the game? Well if you sit closer to one of those the louder you sound, they further back you sit and quieter you sound. If am correct, the squadron were sitting back, while marinators were sitting closer to these microphones. Just my two cents, Will

Im not giving you guys the pleasure of a debate. But here is a bit about photograph copyright "When is copyright infringed? It is generally an infringement of copyright to deal with a photograph in any of the ways exclusively reserved to the copyright owner without the copyright owner’s permission, unless copyright has expired. Using part of a photograph in one of these ways may also infringe copyright, if that part is important or distinctive, even if it is a relatively small proportion of the photograph. Copyright may also be infringed by “authorising” infringement, by importing articles containing copyright material, and by selling infringing articles."
I authorised the photo (i did not post it myself) to be used in the newcastle forum. I did not authorise it to be used here. Im well any truly over it though (ie built a bridge), but I don't want it to happen again.
