Goldjets. What is this obsession you have with us admitting you are louder, more numerous, more passionate than us?? What are you trying to compensate for??
The facts are simply that we dont respect you guys (at all)
1) We are a better run club 2) We are a more successful side on the pitch 3) Your away support (while better) is still crap
And your desperation to get respect from us seems to confirm that you know it as well.

GJ nobody on here feels threatened by any supporters group and especially the Squadron! roflmao I was standing right on the edge of bay 16/15 and couldn't hear a thing until you scored! I really don't know how you can say you outsang us when noise travels forwards and not sideways, most of our chants are directed towards the pitch and not to a bunch of inbreds (Apart from the odd song). Same deal here thou, a couple of marinators can't say we outsang you because again your probably the same deal? All this rubbish about who is louder than who is boring, as long as the players hear us (which they do) that's all I care about! Apart from a few questionable decisions from the ref I actually thought it was the best derby we have ever had. Newcastle travelled in a few more numbers, the passion was more noticable than before, both teams wanted to win and if Kwassy was a bit more lucky it would have been even better! The only negative for me was security being Nazis and considering we had a great day with the weather a few more than 8,500 would have been nice!

Greenpole and co i have never heard of this striker guy but if he dislikes the mariners he must be kool However rest assured we are not the same person (or are we?) lol The fact is I love the mariners. I have never heard of you and don't want to either. and the guys on the forum have every right to tell you to f*** off..... they are not choir boys they are football fans......

Striker your own fans prefer me too you and that saying something. Thankyou Chimmi Churi but i dont come on here to start trouble, merely just to offer my thoughts and opinions which im sure all of you are interested to hear! Ursus please i dont need language like that from you, your profile states that you are from sydney??? Yet your a mariners fan? intriguing! Im interested to know just how many marinators are actually living on the coast??? Ive always wondered why youve had such a CLOSE relationship with the Sydney FC boys. BTW on our forum believe it or not we actually find the marinators a joke! You use school carnival chants make fun of anyone under 40 and majority of you walk out on your team after they have managed a draw against one of the most creative teams in the competition we grow tired of your skateboard jokes and have no respect for a large proportion of you (although alot of you guys and girls are still kool) i actually noticed more adults in the squadron bay then the marinators anyway but sorry i don't want to offend you guys, because in the squadron we don't judge people by their age, doesn't matter what gender they are, how old they are everyone is welcome and nobody is judged upon their appearance. Anyway i'd prefer to be part of a supporters group which is going places and actually travels to away games which aren't finals. Damn it looks like we are going to miss out on another prize which will be claimed by you guys (THE WOODEN SPOON). Maybe at the end of the season i will have to eat humble pie with it, but somehow i doubt it!

Nah, I prefer Striker.
At least he uses full stops and can articulate his thoughts in plain English.
The more you type the more I am embarrassed about the level of education you are receiving in Newcastle.
I know both labour and the liberals have neglected your area for many years but your ranting on this forum is quite seriously getting me very worried about the literacy levels in the area.
Hope your new labour candidate Jodie McKay can fix things.

Goldjets,
I'm from Sydney as well, as my name testifies. The Marinators are all over the place, eg, Sydney, West Wyalong, Tasmania, Queensland, even in the Hunter Valley at Singleton, Lakelands & Aberglasslyn. Doesn't matter where you live, as long as you are true blue, one-eyed and passionate.
I wouldn't say we have a close relationship with Sydney FC. The fact we have a beer pre-match with them is out of respect for the game, Mr Warren & The Cove.
I am one of the oldest Marinators and I am 38. We don't pre-judge anyone in our group. We only judge people after seeing what they are really like. The fact that I am one of the group clearly indicates that the Marinators will let ANYONE join in the fun.
I completely disagree with your comments about our away travels. We took buses to Brisbane in February, we OWN several Foveaux St pubs in Sydney, and our crew have been to Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth. Our attendance at the Newcastle International Sports Centre has been good, too.
Bickering about the relative pros & cons of the Squadron v the Marinators is essentially meaningless. You guys do your best for Newcastle, we do our best for the Central Coast, and that's really all that matters.
One more thing, Goldjets. Expect a yellow wave on November 12 at the NISC. We will be large in number, noisy, boisterous, incessant, vivid, colourful and most of all, VICTORIOUS.
The Mariners are life, the rest is pure semantics.
Cheerio,
AM

Well said Auburn it is obvious that you are one of leaders of the marinators and with that attitude your group will continue to grow. However i was just interested why some of you guys support a team in an area you have little to do with unless you have ties to the area or something. I mean if its because of the NSL that was the old way football was run in this country! I just feel that you should support the area you are based in or come from. Auburn we saw you after the game at Gosford and you were shaking hands with other jets supporters and even though you resort to using yourself as an example of someone who can join a group, im sure any supporters groups in the A-league would be privaleged to have you on their team including the squadron. KEEP IT UP MATE.
GO THE JETS
BTW i hope you guys do bring a large travelling contingent as that was by far the best derby and we need to top it.

Striker mate you are a joke your the sort of mariners fan who i am against because any true fan doesn't bag their team. Youve bagged the mariners more then me and ive atleast got reason to do it. Why dont you just go support New Zealand or someone but then again they probabley don't want you either. The people have spoken striker now please go away! Thankyou. Mariner mick they are newcastle fans there is no way we can be at fault. But seriously at EAS semi-final all your fans came up to the jets fans gloating about the win and one 40 year old man went up to my 18 year old mate and was gloating to him and getting in his face so my mate swatted his arm away (no hits or anything) and the guy backed off with tears in his eyes. It is because of acts like that which have given you guys abit of a reputation amongst jets fans as being softies. Now i know that doesn't represent all of you but it obviously does for some and you gotta learn to take as much as you give. Anyway there was heaps of insults being flown between bays and i saw no fights all night which was a credit to the derby. Mick at a derby football match words are gonna be said but as long as no action takes place really don't worry about it mate. But if i saw a bit of biff between a jets fan and a mariners fan i would be the first one to call teh cops over to break it up. Jokes i would probabley just break it up myself.

They're the kind of idiots the HAL certainly doesn't need....
Good on you, whatever tosser posted that - you're making the rest of the jets supporters look bad (well, they looked bad enough to start with! lol).
I don't think there's any pride to be taken in assaulting an opposing supporter who approached in good spirits then abusing them for not punching on or starting a riot.
I'd rather be on the side that realises that sh*t isn't worth bothering about myself.
Kudos to our supporters who realised it was smarter to remain above that garbage.
Pathetic - the fact that they're gloating about it is totally pitiful. Let's hope we don't get too many like that infiltrating into stadiums around the country. NRL has enough problems with crowd violence - we're much happier without it.
And if you're immature enough to think that makes us soft then hey, whatever makes you sleep better at night.
On a side note, I never could figure out why jets fans keep insisting we love Bling FC..............
lol, the jets forum is a joke. They seem to insist that we only sing when we're winning.
Methinks they need to remember that it might seem that way because we were winning for most of the match ;-) And we stayed pretty damn loud after the equaliser to bring the boys home anyway.

It was a derby game, the two supporters groups are never going to agree about the result etc . after the fact so lets accept that and move on.
I find it worrying that on the Newcastle forums that they have no place to discuss the a-league unless in involves the cessnas. It seems to suggest that they believe the a-league revolves around them.
As to why people from out of the area support our team, unlike Central Coast/Newcastle border the line is more blurred between Sydney and the Central Coast, often the northern suburbs feel as in the shadow of Sydney as the Coast does, others will identify with the team spirit and the personal approach of the club rather than the big bucks of Sydney(We get to meet the players after each home game and hear the coachs thoughts on the game as well as his man of the match with limited numbers allowed this is why many will rush off after a home game, I know that I'd rather hear from my coach than the opposition surpporters). I see in the Newcastle Herald that Lake Macquarie residents, broadly speaking, don't identify themselves as that rather as novocastrians. some one from the Wyong shire is definetly a coasty. Defined border vs an underfined border. Then there is the Con factor which has less to do about the city and more about the person running it.

Goldturds, if it is the intent of the Squadron to portray themselves as some kind of firm then you are:-
1) Stupider than you all look (the Millwall surgical masks in particular)
2) Not a firm that would actually bother anyone (Most of the other Poms in Bay 15 were laughing their heads off at your pathetic attempts to look hard)
3) Missing the whole point of the A League (families, kids, no fear etc etc - is any of this making sense??)
4) One day you will find it back firing on you badly.
I have watched enough football in segregated and fenced stadiums. Worn no colours to the game to preserve my safety and like any regular UK football watcher in the 70's and 80's I have seen stuff that would make you sick to your stomach.
Hooligans are not "cool" they are usually bullies. Have you seen the face of a child that is watching its dad get a kicking from a group of guys?? I have and it is horrific.
Am I saying that is what the Squadron is trying to create? No. However, if you go down that road, you wont like it one bit. Neither will the game in this country.
So to answer your question, the Mariners are not soft or scared, they just get it more than you do.

the masks were to stop us breathing in the dirty air i had no problem with mariners fans on saturday night.. a bit of banter thrown here and there but thats about it. thanks again for your hospitality and looking forward to the rematch. the squadron and marinators should both be complimented (perfect atmosphere of zero violence).
