There was a time in the 1980s when the South Sydney Rugby League Football Club retired the no. 14 jersey. No players wore this number because the supporters were perceived to be the 14th player!
I am wondering whether the Mariners would ever consider doing this with the no. 16 jersey.
Bay 16 at the Central Coast Express Advocate Stadium is the Marinators' home, and most of the Marinators now wear that number on their backs.
Such a move would give a tremendous boost to both the players and their supporters.
Cheers!

Hi Greenpoint,
An odd request, but a valid one!
At present, the notion of retiring a strip number is not feasable, given that the FFA does not allow Hyundai A-League clubs to use numbers outside of 1-20, and we have 20 players.
Certainly though, the club would digest your request with due consideration in the future, should the Marinators continue their enormous success off the field so far!
