I would like to thank WT and other critics for daring to speak their minds (at the risk of being 'hammered' for doing so) and stating how they had felt Noel Spencer had been playing of recent times. Thanks to them, our beloved Spenny had obviously read those threads and in the words of MM during the glorious CCC call, "Spenny has had the best game he has had for quite some time now , quieting some of his critics of late!.." We all know that its this forum that motivates the players...Nice work marinators....spenny is BACK !!!!

Yes, he worked v hard (as usual) gets into great positions but you have to admit that he didnt get one cross to a Mariner all night (or against adelaide either)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU Look I think some of the reactions to criticism (which wasnt just from me) were over the top, and people may have thought the criticism was over the top. That's all fair enough but it was storm in teacup stuff when you look at baggings on other forums and in the media. But the fact is, it was only ever performance that was discussed, not just a straight out bagging of a player, because the players ARE more than good enough. and the reason i think what was said was fair is that we've seen the players do a lot better. certainly the criticised players in particular lifted their game last night - spenny bagged some goals and got his groove back but even besides those i thought the rest of his game was excellent. he simplified it and stuck to his task, and it worked so much better in that role.

sully cant cross. as was mentioned this was not the first game he failed to get any crosses to a mariner. if his cross doesnt go into the stands then it goes into the keepers hands.

Yea sully made some great runs down the wing but he just couldnt finish those runs with the cross, he is a great player but he needs to work on those crosses and i hope he has a good game to prove us all wrong like spenny did.
Spenny played a great game and i dont think it was just because he scored 2 but he you could see him standing up alot more in midfield, he made the takles that needed to be made and put some good balls through as well as setting up the goal for Sonic (at least i think it was spenny)

I believed the whole backline(except for lasps in concentration for that goal) stood up last night and really played well. There were many occasions where a well timed tackle was produced at crucial times(even heffo made sum good tackles)

I thought Sully was great, and thought so too against Sydney. I know we're looking through rose (or yellow) coloured glasses, but I honestly believe that there's not one player in that squad who's not playing well
