Newcastle skipper Ned Zelic believes that the Jets will reverse the 0-1 loss they suffered in the first leg of the minor semi-final against Central Coast in Friday's second leg.
Zelic said that they key for Newcastle will be to have more confidence in finishing attacking moves, and revealed that confidence is high within the playing group despite the loss last Friday.
"The team spirit is sky high and we know that we played well (on Friday) but we need to have better composure in front of goal and covert the scoring opportunities when they present themselves," Zelic said.
"The result that we need is in our hands, we have to think positively every day leading up to next Friday night.
"Our semi final second leg started last Friday night immediately after the game when we had a debrief, we regrouped and started our mission for the second leg semi final."
A two-goal win for the Jets will put them through to the preliminary semi-final against the loser of Sydney and Adelaide, while a one-goal victory will force the game into a penalty shootout.
"We have worked extremely hard to get to the Hyundai A-League Finals Series as with all of the teams that are taking part in this Finals Competition and we want to make sure that we go on to the preliminary final," Zelic said
The defender concedes that Newcastle were wasteful in front of goal in the first leg, but warns Central Coast that they should expect a fired up Newcastle team on Friday.
"Although we missed many chances and wasted some very good opportunities, we know that we played some very good football without reward."
"If anyone thinks that this tie is over, well they can think again because we are not giving up this fight and Central Coast will know that they're in a tough game on Friday night, this is our season on the line now and we're prepared to fight until the last second of the game."
