I disagree with Bikinigirl's comments about O'Grady being rock solid. He was troubled all night by Archie's off the ball runs and overall, outclassed. Having 3 goals put past you hardly suggest anyone in the back four was anything near solid (i thought they were pretty ordinary at best), especially considering the 3rd was against 9 men. And we actually went 3-2 up when they had 10 players...the penalty was after Vargas got sent off...sorry thats just nit-picking. .cahill17 i understand your point of view, but everyone is always quick to bag their own defensive efforts when they go down a goal and heap glory on strikers when they score .a slight slip up in defense (be it timing or otherwise) costs goals, a slip up in attack generally only loses possession (& yes i realise that is their role & all that) .playing the offside trap against that attack may not have been a brilliant idea - last year's backline with clarky, meggsi, & heff is about twice as fast as the other night - i can't blame our guys for losing a yard to archie & co. .i also think some of the blame has to fall to the midfield, you can't expect the back 4 to be marking all the runners coming into the box .the lst goal came from a cross where one of our guys seemed to actually move his head out of the way of the ball - and no he wasn't one of the back 4 .i am always quick to defend our back 5 i think they have earnt/saved us more points (both this season and last) than the attack

now my report on the team: .management - can't be too critical, i am sure they did tell the guys to go out in the 2nd and wait for melbourne to come at us - but i can't help but feel some selection were made on the basis of 'status quo/not to offend/confidence building', although i am not sure who is fully fit at the moment - it will be interesting to see any changes .danny - some brilliant saves (again) but on another day i reckon he may have even pulled a couple more out of his bum (he was close to stopping at least their first 2), he is so good with his body outside the box, wait till he grows up .wayneO - glad he is back, a super defender for a midget but is better utilised elsewhere and a real leader (eg. during the injury delay against perth he was strategising with the boys when most were wandering around scratching their bums - and he had only been on for short time) .ogrady - since sydney (a real boost for him) he has been on fire, rock solid .wilko - has stepped up this season in place of meggsi and does an impeccable job generally without anyone noticing. timing/positioning a fraction out last night, but melbourne aren't runaway leaders for nothing .vuko - very keen to impress with few opportunities which occassionally leads to committing to the tackle a little early .spenny - i think he is feeling the burden without gumps around and it is effecting his confidence and hence assertiveness .tommy - sublime passing/crossing/shooting, his wide runs should keep our strikers in the middle. i wish he had a bit more luck .stewie - i think left MF is his position, has been very impressive - still scoring with fewer offsides and the old fella can still run (and quick) .jamie - seemed a little lost last season (in bit part role) but last night showed a spirit which i think typifies the coast .kwassy - had my doubts early on (seemed too top heavy) but the last month he has played fantastic through sheer determination, is interesting to watch with the ball at his feet (does he even know what he is going to go?) .mori - his only real fault in recent weeks has been his 'striker's crosses' from out wide, but last night's for jamie's goal (if i remember correctly) was a pearler, otherwise seemed a little quiet last night (maybe just because he didn't score) .... well that was serious, but i don't think there is much to work on

well this will probably bore most, but a few observations based on the queries of others: .obviously melbourne know how to win, score goals, etc .by all reports lawrie's tactics were spot on at half-time - execution was the problem .kwassie header was behind the goal line - the send off probably did more harm in hindsight (but i am not sure of the rules here) .the melbourne throw-in leading to the goal was the worst i have seen since under 6s - but i can't remember a foul being called in the a-league .i recall two handballs by melbourne in their box in the last 10-15 both of which were accidental, however the one that slid over the goal-line was touched about 3 times .MuchCat got what he deserved i always thought we were the team to do it - i think we have that effect on a few teams - he doesn't get a bad rap from the refs he is always pushing the boundaries (and sportsmanship doesn't come into it) .the ref had lost control long before the halftime whistle .was archie's goal offside? this hasn't had much of a mention .we did show we could match-it-with/beat the runaway leaders - don't forget we went 3-2 up while they had 11 on the park .... now one from way out there - i think it was our attacking mentality which brought us unstuck in the 2nd half with the numerical advantage. from my vantage point there was many times where we had 4 defenders on the halfway line (their quick breaks had proved successful - so this i can understand, 5 guys on the front line itching for a goal and one poor bastard with the ball an no-one to pass it to. when we slow it down that's what happens. if we could just liven things up, draw on that superior fitness and the slick/quick passing game instead of just sitting in the box waiting for a goal ....

I just submitted my location. Saw the other posting was 48, bigger than the combined total of the shires outside Gosford and Wyong. Can you maybe or its to late to have a second poll question, asking if not in poll one then go to poll 2. My guess there are a lot of people in the Hills area of Sydney. . maybe if you select other, just pop a note in the thread saying 'i selected other because i live in bora bora ... any other supporters in bora bora?'
