Just A quick question. Why couldn't we keep Mori? For one thing that relay annoys me about that is..about a week after we gave him away O'grady hurts himself ........I don't get it.Oh and one other thing. If Clarke stays out for the rest of the season, can we ask Mori back to the Mariners or can we just not do that. The Football world is soooooo confussing

We weren't allowed to keep him because he was going to replace a defender, O'Grady. The FFA blocked the move and said that a striker cannot replace a defender. 2 days later he was snapped up by the roar to replace Murdocca. Mori wouldn't be allowed to replace Clark.

he was signed as cover for nik mjrja (sorry on spelling) then nik became available and under the a-league rules mori was only allowed 8 games for ccm unless he was signed as a permanent player - ccm didnt do this but now nik is injured again

Farina wants more Mori Friday, 5 January, 2007 - 7:01AM Marcus Wilson, Sportal
Roar striker Damian Mori Roar striker Damian Mori Queensland Roar coach Frank Farina wants Damian Mori to play-on in season 2007/08, believing the veteran striker still has a lot to bring to the A-League.
Farina has been impressed by Mori's evergreen form this year and said his vintage performance against Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium was further proof the domestic league's all-time top goal-scorer was still a dangerous player.
"I've been very pleased with Damian's contribution since he's been there, he's a real pro," Farina said.
"I had a chat to him yesterday, I said 'I think you can still go around for another year' but I don't think he's thinking too much about that."
The 36-year-old Mori proved a headache for the Reds' defenders. He found plenty of space throughout the clash and unleashed two cracking shots on goal - one of which hit the cross bar and opened up the match-winning scoring opportunity for Reinaldo.
Farina said Reinaldo's game was also worth praising.
"When you consider Reinaldo hasn't really played 90 minutes for most probably six or seven weeks, if not more, and for him to come in and perform the way he did and finish the night was pleasing," he said.
The 1-0 victory over United continues the Roar's rollercoaster season. Farina admitted his side had 'Jeckyll and Hyde' tendencies but said the result gives his side a crack at the finals.
"It just sets us up you know, it was doom and gloom when we lost against New Zealand and yet New Zealand played well," he said.
"All of sudden we win tonight and we are back in the hunt and that's football, football is a funny, funny game sometimes."

Just discovered that Mori didn't actually replace anyone from the QLD squad, he infact was signed as their 20th player for this season.

yeah, they had a spare spot on their 20 man roster, something the Mariners don't have. To fit in Mori, as a permanent player, Lawrie would have had to delist one player. Couln't have been Boogaard, he's an U20 listed player, so Lawrie would have had to delist (and the club payout) on of his more senior players. Something that goes dead against what Lawrie stands for, he said as much publicly.

Well we need three Mori's next year two to play every game, and one out injured ( if need be ) our current strikers just don't make it. We need three decent strikers to win matches, can't win by not conceding any points - ( go Danny go ).

Sign up Mori for next year NOW!! You can't put a price on the goals he would score us. Unfortunately he won't sign for an A-league because of his commitments as a player/manager in Adelaide. He only joined us because their season had finshed.

Thanks I have never really understood the reasons behind why he wouldn't sign. Its unfortunate that a player of his quality can't sign up to play in the A-League.

Why does someone need to be dropped, squad limits are increasing, so until the Mariners find 4 new players they want there's no need to sack anyone.

He would probably cost a transfer fee or loan fee if we signed him? something we can't afford.

Mori is retiring at the end of the season, he is hesitant to move from Adelaide. He commutes from Adelaide and only trains once a week with the Roar.
I don't think Mori will b playing at all next season.
Likewise Farina commutes from Sydney because he didnt want to uproot his family, mainly his kids. He has now moved permanently to Qld.
