It's no secret that injuries were not kind to us this year. Infact, I believe that somewhere along the line I heard that Lawrie ended up changing his squad something like 19 times out of 21 matches? Interested to know who was injured, how long for, and why...just to keep tabs.
Eg. Out: In: Weeks out: Reason:
Any of that info would be appreciated.
Regards

Best thing I can recommend is research it on the mariners website, it's all on there.

Coaster, this issue's been niggling me since HAL v1. Sure there's injuries and illnesses that no one could avoid (e.g. Boogaard's glandular fever). However, as the injury toll hit the squad again this season, I couldn't stop thinking that there's something that the team has been doing, or not doing, that's the underlying cause of it all. Maybe there's not enough medical assessment of the players prior to the start of their conditioning program for the next season, maybe it's the training schedule, or the hard grounds. I did suggest in another thread, that the club should be going thru everything that Lawrie and the team has done over the past two seasons and reviewing all aspects of the team's operations. I was assured by Marinermick that the club would be very thorough in review so with that assurance in mind, I'm sure that everything will be hunky dory next season. ;D

Incidentially, I was in the office visiting yesterday and Clarky was in there working - hopefully on pre-season stuff.

I dare say Andrew was preparing the next season's torture (pre season training) for the poor sods! Or maybe putting in his contribution to that full report you've mentioned (or maybe answering a 'Please explain')?

I'm currently looking over who was out, how long for, and why for this season. I'm just interested really. Problem is, our injuries started as early as the pre-season...There seems to a lot of sprains, strains....and automobiles. Such 'minor', silly injuries that you think could be avoided.
True, these guys play and train hard, but it's fair to say most of them are highly-developed athletes and, as such, shouldn't be getting hurt this much. Our league is only 21 games, and to miss 8 weeks out, or more, due to injury - it doesn't exactly hold the team in good stead :S
I'd be extremely interested to hear the results of this report.

Probably not the entire report, no. Something along the lines of "Training- ground pitch conditions not good enough" might get out though. Or other reasons. Maybe they should look closer at warming up routine, or diet etc etc. Still interested what comes out. You guys are aparently close to the club, I'm sure you can find something

If you can play at Jubille, you can play on the moon :-)
Maybe our injury management is poor compared to other clubs/codes. Money is obviously an issue and not having reserve teams to ease players back is a bigger one IMHO.
