FORMER ADELAIDE City skipper and Socceroo defender Alex Tobin has officially joined a world-wide cast of candidates seeking to replace John Kosmina as Adelaide coach.
Tobin, 41, had indicated a desire to serve a longer apprenticeship at Central Coast under head coach Lawrie McKinna but the chance to return home proved too tempting.
Perth Glory assistant David Mitchell and former Adelaide City talisman Serg Melta have also rushed applications to United.
no surprises really

Tobin Vs McKinna
Pupil Vs Master
Luke Skywalker Vs Darth Vader..
I think it'd be an awesome chance for tobes - sorry to see him go though (if he goes).

I would not be suprised to see him go and John McLafferty from Wyoming and The Lightning take his spot.

I would not be suprised to see him go and John McLafferty from Wyoming and The Lightning take his spot. would be a good move - not only provides a direct link with local juniors to identify and develop young players, but also to identify and develop good young coaches. i don't know where we're at with an academy, but it would be great not only to develop young up-and-coming players but also coaches. linking in with rob baan and the general direction of the FFA's technical development would be terrific, and then to ahve all junior coaches being taught the theories and methods from the FFA book would be tops. in 5-10 years, every kid with a bit of potential should be coming through learning 'the Australian system' and linking straight into a development pathway that has the mariners at the top of the local tree.

He is involved with the youth team anyway as far as I know, and good friends with Lawrie iv also heard.
