Monday, 18 June 2007
Central Coast Mariners
Central Coast Mariners © Central Coast Mariners The Central Coast Mariners’ clash with NSW Premier League side Manly United, scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday, 19 June), has been postponed due to inclement weather in Sydney’s north.
The Mariners’ next trial match is now set for Wednesday, 27 June, when Lawrie McKinna’s charges will take on a selection of players from the Central Coast Premier League in the third annual Central Coast Charity Plate at Pluim Park. Kick off is at 7pm.
The Charity Plate was originally set down for Saturday, 9 June, but was re-scheduled due to the severe storms that have affected the Central Coast and Hunter regions over the past fortnight.
In accordance with the inaugural edition of the Charity Plate, the Mariners’ opposition will be sourced entirely from the local Premier League, with the team to be nicknamed the Thunder.
In the two previous editions of the Charity Plate, the Mariners have recorded 3-0 and 2-0 wins respectively, with both matches played in front of four-figure attendances at Pluim Park – Central Coast football’s spiritual home.
Finally, the Mariners will travel to the nation’s capital for the first time in their short history to take on ACT Premier League favourites Belconnen United on Saturday, 30 June. Kick off is at 5.30pm.
Mariners Memberships for the Hyundai A-League 2007/08 season are now available for purchase online at www.ccmariners.com.au, or from Rebel Sports outlets at Erina and Tuggerah.
