Thursday, I don't care about you, it's Friday I'm In Love.
Today is going to be torture....... tomorrow won't be a problem, because I know that when the agony I call "work" is over, I have the game to go to. _THE_ game. The season opener. The one that is most worthy of the "FIRE UP FARKIN'" that is bestowed upon it by us all. Mariners vs. Sydney.
Come on time, you're driving me crazy.

osman in the holding role if mile is out and clarky to right back?
only logical replacement in that position for me other than smitta who will be coming back from iraq and unlikely to be in the squad
crikey, one injury and our depth in the only two positions (holding midfielder and right back) we don't have real depth is being tested
could lawrie gamble given that sydney are only playing one up front and have tommy and gumpy in the middle with browny on the left?
but who would look after juninho?

Jedinak should be ok - if not I would prefer to see Owens and Gumps in the middle or Tommy and Gumps with Browny on the left

Fingers crossed Mile is ok I am - he can do all the defensive duties, is one of the best headers in the squad (inc Boogs, Stringers, Mile and Mrdja), has the pace to stay in touch with Juninho and technically he is also one of the best (inc Tommy and Viddy).

I was confused why he changed positions after V1?

Am I the only one who isn't too impressed by this 'Juninho' character?? Sure, he's Brazilian and he's won a World Cup, but that was 5 years ago. The man is 34 years old - you can be the best player in the world when you're 28, but once you start heading towards those mid 30's, simple human physics dictates that you're not going to be fast as you once were. Not to mention that his "pre season" has consisted of half an hour against Penrith...... until we see him with our own eyes, I'm not sure what to make of him at all. However, I _am_ sick of the fanboy-esque beating off by the Sydney lads ("omfgz!!!111 Juninho lol") as to how he's going to pwnz0r the A-League and leave everyone in his dust. Let me re-iterate....... he's 34. Wait until a 2 foot Jedinak tackle makes his acquaintance. On a separate note - any idea on who the ref. is??

Technically Juninho will be 1 of the best players in the league, sure he may not have the pace he once had or the endurance but he will still have the ability to turn a game and create chances that others cannot do.
If Sheringham at 40 could still score goals in the EPL then I'm 100% sure that at 34 Juninho will prove his worth if he wants to in the HAL.
I certainly wouldn't complain if we signed a 34 year old Brazilian legend in a position that we needed strength.

But Sheringham is good. I just hope for the League's sake that Mr. Juninho actually wants to be here and bothers to try a few things. Just as long as it's not against us. FIRE UP FARKIN'!!!!

The man is 34 years old - you can be the best player in the world when you're 28, but once you start heading towards those mid 30's, simple human physics dictates that you're not going to be fast as you once were. Didn't you get to see the hollywood flick "GOAL!", with Coach Erik Dornhelm (Arsenne Wegner in disguise) asking Santiago Munez, the young Mexican player to 'chase and beat the ball', Munez failed each time. Dornhelm then asks, "who's faster? you or the ball" Juninho will be utillising 'sliding thru ball's' into space for the likes of Brosque and with his years of experience will in addition support each ball he delivers to repeat the 'creation' yet again if it breaks down. This is where I believe he will be a danger to us and fellow opposition.
